some bikes DO have accessories available (that generally attach inside the clutch mechanism itself) that can lessen the force needed to disengage the clutch --

I'd suggest blocking out some time on google, or, better, a model specific site for your bike --

dealer personnel are often part time, not necessarily real knowledgable (as in this case where some bright sprak thought that shortening a lever would reduce the amount of force needed -- simple geometry pr greek phylosophy woulda shown otherwise)
