Is this SV650 deal as good as I think it is??

Already posted on Maximumsusuki.com but thought I might get a more feedback on this more general forum.
Dropped by the local stealer today just to see what they had. This is not a Suzuki shop. However they had a naked 2006 SV650 used with >>>260<<<< miles. They are asking $3800. The bike is like new. I did a brief test ride and it was flawless. They had a guy trade it at a big loss for a 4-wheeler he just had to have
. Thats their story and they are sticking to it :-) This seems like a great deal.
I have a Bandit 1200S and a Concours. I don't ride the Concours much now since I have the Bandit and would probably sell it if I get the SV650.
Seems to good to be true. Is this deal as good as it seems?

$3800 out the door.
Definitely NOT 3800 plus tax, license, and all other fees.

I would have to say that is a pretty good deal on an 06 model with that few miles on it.

If you don't jump on it, someone else will. That's quite a bargain. Make sure you get a warranty on it. Who knows what kind of a person was riding it before or what they did to it?
SV650s are awesome bikes. That is definitely what I would buy if I wasn't going to do the 2-up or light off-road stuff much.

If it hasn't been wrecked or flooded it sounds pretty good. Only you know where the bike is so you need to investigate what the REAL DEAL is!!

Nice deal. I love the SV650. I got to ride one for about 20-30 miles in the fall of 06. What a hoot!

I have one- WTF?
BUY IT!!!
What are you waiting for? Two things, obey the breakin schedule and get different tires on before you ride it. The Dunlop 220s are terrible. I have Metzeler Z6's, great tire, and I have around 1,700 miles on them.

They make a naked 650?
I found the SV650 underpowered, ergos seemed good, might be fun steed for short trips/commuting, as long as you aren't much taller than 6'. I put about 80 miles on one was was delighted to get back on my Bandit 1200..

Which shop is it?
If it's Rusty at the Honda shop...I'd trust him. At least I do whenever I have a problem.
My experience at the local Yamaha shop on Pamlico Hwy is limited. They didn't strike me as very sharp when I had a Vmax. They couldn't answer some pretty basic quesitions other than "bring it in"...not real confidence inspiring. Anyway...drop me PM if you want some help...have compression gauge and leakdown tester...will travel.

PhotoMD, was that your white BMW RS at the Huddle House last Saturday?
I don't really expect to find anything wrong as it only has 260 miles and looks and rides like new. The little rubber bumps are still on the middle of the tires
. However I will look at it very closely before I buy. I might take up your offer to help check it out mechanically.
If I get this bike I will probaly sell the Concours. I hope I am still up to 400+ mile days on the Bandit 1200 or SV650. I am just waiting for the right weekend day to make the trip to Danbury again.
Maybe a gel seat for the SV or a Russell for the Bandit.

400+ mile days on the S model SV is a push. The problem with the nake model will be wind blast.

400 miles on a Bandit 1200s is a walk in the park though..
I'd probably keep the Concours and sell the bandit if i were in your situation, food for thoguht..

Without knowing your size or what bike fits you best, it's impossible to know if the SV is right for you. Lots of people travel long distances with a huge variety of bikes.
For example, there's someone I ride with locally who does 10-14 hour days on an old SV650 S with a Russell saddle and Ventura rack. He loves it. Bluepoof on here did the same thing, but with Givi luggage...I think. There used to be a local rider who went to Colorado on KLR 650. He thought it was great. KLR's don't do it for me personally, but it was the perfect bike for him. Other local riders use a Ducati 996 monster, XX, Fatboy, various ages of VFR's, and various BMW's. They all do trips to the mountains/beach, etc and their bikes work well.
If you paddle, it's kinda like picking a kayak. If you feel a slight pressure point, a twinge in a joint or a slight discomfort, that will worsen as the day wears on and will come on sooner the more days in row you ride.
Just about any bike will do...as long as it fits. Then, of course there's the
and
factor. If I don't do this when I walk in the garage, the bike won't last long. This why you'll see me answer the question "which bike is best?" with "the one that fits and makes you go
and
."
If you really love the SV, you can change the bars, put luggage on it and a windshield and hit all four corners of the US. However you gotta be honest with yourself and figure out why the other two bikes in your garage don't push your buttons...IHMO.
As for my rides, my oilhead is black and my airhead is burgandy. I always have on a silver Arai and a silver and black Aerostitch...I get some funny looks walking into the Health and Fitness center or the grocery.

Huh? We sold my wifes 2002 a few months ago with 12000 miles for $3200. That was a first generation not FI. That's a great deal.

Everthing has to break in and mate properly t oprervent excessive wear/breakage. Also the little flecks of metal need to be removed through changing the oil. I found the 220's made it hard to lean the bike at the recommended tire pressures.

This is an old debate.
But the 220's do suck...I put on pilot powers within the first 50 miles.
