Well folks, I just accepted a new position working out of Kelowna.  I'll be a regional rep working from home and covering Kamloops, the Okanagan and the Trail/Castlegar/Nelson/Creston area doing automotive lease-return inspections.  The compensation is quite satisfactory...  Bigsmile

So anyway. no Kootenay Colour Run for me this year as I'll be going for training in October and officially starting in November.

Now I've just got to get a place lined up!

Pretty much my thought too but hey, they're paying for it...   Shrug  It's actually more shadowing another rep for a couple of weeks just to learn the ropes.

I was hoping but apparently one of their U.S. reps did himself up pretty good while using his bike for work a few years ago (and trashed all of his company-supplied equipment, computer, etc) and now they have a company-wide ban.  Sad

So, once a little money flows in I'll get a reasonably fuel-efficient car and my wife can drive the Explorer for a while until we replace it with something newer.

Kelowna! Hey welcome to my world. I can recommend a good phsyco therapist if you have difficulties adjusting to the weather, and the lakes, and the great riding, and great skiing, and, and, and............
(my guess as a neophite westerner would be PS = Perry Sound)

Hey Mike .. that is good news for you as I know you have been looking hard for a new community and better job opportunities Bigok

It goes without saying however, that you must give up you Kootenay passport upon leaving.   Twofinger

But I can still visit right?  Right?

Looking forward to a much longer riding season though - maybe 2 months of downtime instead of seven!  Thumbsup

Also, a big part of my territory is going to be Castlegar, Trail, Nelson and Creston - I'll be out there about a week out of every month so I'm not leaving entirely.

I'll be running over to Kelowna on the bike the middle of this coming week to try and lock in a place for Nov 1st - got a line on a really nice, private, heavily treed rental house right on Mission Creek.

Thursday update:

Got the house lined up.  It's in Westbank with lots of room for visitors.  Feels like it's out in the country but it's just 3km from downtown Westbank and 15km from downtown Kelowna.  I think we may have to do a barbecue there next year...  Not really any tent space though (it's mostly on a slope) .  We'll be moving in for November 1st.
