Well after missing the much talked about STN meet in Italy, I finally made it up that way on August 31. I had my route all planned out with me hitting some of the well known passes with the grand destination being Tuscanny. My trip started out on the B-48 which snakes through Johanniskeruz Germany, all the way to Wisembourg France. From there I hopped on the A-35 for a 15 minute autobahn (freeway) ride to Baden Baden and then over to Gernsbach to fuel up. By the time I got to Gernsbach, I decided to scrap my plans due to the fact of it being so many roads to take

I decided to bag my map and just go with the flow, after all some of the best touring is done on a whim.
I parked the bike, grabbed a quick bite to eat and I was off into the daylight.

Leaving Gernsbach I saw a wonderful site in my rearview mirror, and yes I had my camera with me.

As I zoomed down the road, the twisties had me in a trance, next thing I know darkness had fallen and I found myself in Switzerland needing a place to stay. To my surprise there was no problem finding a room and I ended up staying at a nice place with a sauna and breakfast for 35 Euro and keep in mind I had no reservations. Here is a pic from the hotel window at night.

And here is the same picture the next morning.

After breakfast, I packed up and headed towards the Stelvio pass, this was the road I was taking into Italy. By this time the weather was not looking promising, but no worries I had my "Felix the Cat" bag of tricks with me (Please tell me I didn't just date myself)

you know rain suite, thermal gloves and all the other needed items for traveling in the Alps.
Heading to the summit of the Stelvio pass, I pulled over and took a few pics, after realizing how high i was i put the camera up and concentrated on the roads because for some reason fear consumed me

I mean real fear!! This was really strange to me because I've been to the Alps many times before so this really concerns me, but I'll deal with it when I get home.

Finally at the summit I caught my composure and shook off the jeepers creepers and continued my ride.

Spent a wonderful night in Italy only to awake to some serious cloud cover. but once again the motorcycle Gods were with me and it had burnt off by noon.

Fog and Fear behind me, i headed to the Dolmitten mountains and all I can say is oh my GOD what beauty!! I've never seen anything like this and I was truly amazed. So amazed that I forgot all about my camera till it was to late. I managed to snap a few, but I'm sure one could spend an entire day snapping pictures of this beauty.

CAN YOU SEE THE WIZARD IN THE BELOW PICTURE?

So much for Tuscanny this year, I've spent an entire week on the road traveling some 1600 backroad miles. I'm having a great tour but Tuscanny will have to wait till next year. The only downside is I'm upset with myself for not stopping and taking some really nice pictures to share with you all. But hey, there's always next year to make it up right? Oh well my time is up and I need to jet before the gate closes. I hope you all enjoyed my little travel.
