Thought I'd send out an appeal for comments on this before I hit the 'Buy Now' button. I've been using a Cortech Super Mini for a few years. And as much as I like that little bag, it's starting to wear out. Specifically, the foamy bottom is falling apart.

So, I'm thinking about trying something completely different. A Bags-Connection 'Engage' tank bag with a gas cap attachment ring. They get great comments from the members on advrider.com and elsewhere. Seems like a great idea and the design allows it to be locked, doesn't touch the tank so it won't scratch paint, and flips out of the way easily for gas fill-ups. Anyone here seen or tried one of these?

I have that exact model on my GS and love it!  Secure at any speed up to 125mph (track tested of course), super easy on/off, and the engage holds enough for day-tripping around.  I like the design because it allows for the easy carry of a D-SLR camera with a long lense easily.  To me the semi-rigid sides are a plus and the bag holds it's form well.

I've had mine for a little over 5,000 miles and it still looks pretty much new.

Expensive but to me it was well worth it.  I have a plastic gas tank and can't use mag-bags for easy/on off...and I HATE strap bags.  So, there ya have it!

I have the engage bag on my bike and I love it.  The quality it top notch and it's been tested on my naked bike up to 100 MPH.  Granted, I know that's not a major indicator of its quality, but it does say a lot about how secure the bag attaches to the tank ring.

Gorgeous bike, Doug.  Thumbsup  Your bag looks different that the one pictured on twistedthrottle.com. Are there other options added to it?

Oops... sorry.  My bag is the Engage Sport.

That's why it looks different than the one you're looking out.  Regardless, this is the best quality bag I've ever owned.

Let us know what you think of yours.

I have the "shorty" bag, which is basically the same exact tank bag but magnetic instead of using the locking attachment ring.  It is, as others have stated, TOP NOTCH.  By far the nicest tank bag I've ever owned.  I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

like Doug, I have the Engage sport on my VFR.

I love it, the tank lock ring is head and shoulders above straps or magnets. It makes this tankbag the best one I have ever owned.

The difference between our bags and the one you are looking at is the engage sport is for a flat top tank and the regular engage bag is for a rear sloped tank. The mounting system is the same.

Thanks for the great feedback everyone! I have a new bike and an old tank bag. Not a fan of straps. And just a little paranoid about mag bags and tank paint damage. This seemed like a great alternative. You all have made it way too easy to click the 'Buy Now' button! :0 With your endorsements, I'll be picking one of these up before the season begins. Thanks!!!

Ken,

I had the SW-Motech ring on two bikes and swapped my electronics bag between both bikes or a while. Between that coolness factor and the "never touches the paint", it's pretty much a nolo contendre for the "coolest product idea ever" (next, of course, to Spam).

Get it. You'll be happy.

Thanks, chornbe! You guys have pushed me over the edge of no return. This will be my next tank bag. Leaning toward the Engage because I really don't need anything larger. Would be nice to see them in person. Ah well...

Yea, it's funny.  I had to buy the BC tank bag based on someone's reccommendation too.  If I'm going to pay that much for a tank bag, I would prefer to see it too.  But, over on the Super Duke forum, there was a similar thread to this one.  Based on everyone's comments, I broke down and have NO regrets.

I have the Day Pack II.  Highly recommended.  Doesn't touch the paint, and since the Sprint has a plastic tank, magnets don't work.

SW MotoTech connection is quick, easy, and secure.  Worth every $$$$

Thumbsup Thumbsup ThumbsupThumbsup I bought the Engage XL in June for my wee, best bang for the buck of anything I've farkled.  Once you get use to the gas stop routine, it's a breeze.  I usually pull the release, remove the bag and sit it on the seat behind me.  I opted for the extra cost map pocket, it's well worth the few extra bucks it cost, lots of room to view a large portion of a map and the multiple storage compartments in the main bag have plenty of space as well.  I'd give it four out of five thumbs up, would give it five if they would knock off $25 or $50 bucks!

I don't have their tankbag but do have the cargobag--a large seatbag--and the built quality and design are excellent.

I've bought quite a bit of stuff from TwistedThrottle in the last few years and have found their service and support excellent. I'd suggest checking with them re: the right tankbag for your bike.

The quick release tankbag and the large racepack for the rear are excellent!
