Hey guys,

My friend has a 03 636. It's fuel injection and fully equipped with a PITA computer. While riding the bike will cut out, almost like the side stand switch is kicking on or a bad plug or coil. It will have full power for a while and other times it will be sputtering. Going over bumps or bouncing on the bike seems to make it more progressed. Here are the things we have done.

New air filter, plugs, and new tank of gas. The coils check out OK, by resistance.

Today while doing a diagnosis test, the water pump code and air filter code came up. The air box was unplugged so that covers that but the water pump code?

We have checked all connections numerous times, disconnected and bypassed side stand switch.

The battery terminals are in good shape and the battery is sealed.

Anything else we may have simply overlooked?  Headscratch

Many thanks.  Smile

Could be a bad ground connection somewhere.  Check any grounding locations on the frame and make sure the connections are tight.

Didn't someone on here have a similar problem? Garry? Or was it someone on the west coast?  Headscratch

Can't check for grounds as my friend rode it to the shop for a mechanic to take a free spin on it. Of course he didn't know what it was so he will keep it for a day. We will see how good he really is. I do trust the mechanic as I have used him in a pinch before. Time will tell though...

But on the way to the shop the bike wouldn't make it over 50. So it is getting worse. I don't know if its a good or bad thing but I will follow up here on whatever bugger is causing all this.

Garry if your there any insight would be amazing.

Thanks again for the help

I hope the mechanic can figure it out.  Could just be a computer that has gone AWOL.   Shrug

It's been three weeks since she came back from the dealer and she runs like a champ. About 500 miles later she hasn't hiccuped once.

The shop tested everything mechanically and proved our assumptions that everything was tip top. After the second mechanic was finishing testing the coils and such he put the tank back on and fired her up. Surprisingly she was fixed. He honestly said that he didn't have the slightest idea what it was except that one of the connectors could have had some water or a bit of dirt making a poor connection. Maybe some bad Qi? Shrug

On the kawi forums someone who had a very similar problem had a bad crank sensor. Who knows but she runs mean.
