How about meeting in Bancroft?  On October 25th?  For lunch on Saturday?  Maybe just for the day, maybe spending the night in town and continuing the fun on Sunday?

The weather could be iffy, and I haven't booked anything yet, but maybe this might work if there's any interest.

What say you?

I might actually be able to do that. I have friends who are building a log cabin in Bancroft. He used to race and just bought a new Monster 2 weeks ago and talked his wife into buying a Kawi 500. Maybe he'd like to join us if it happens. I'll keep track of this thread.

Let's keep an eye on the weather and on this thread.  It'll be good to get out on one last blast before it's too late.

And let's leave my ass out of this.

I'll keep that day open.
Might be a good way to finally get that heated liner (I'm thinking the made-in-Canada blackjack, $200 retail for liner (i.e. vest with sleeves) but just an on-off switch, no heat-troller.)

Hey JF, I have the Black Jack and it's been great. But I seem to remember paying only around $125.00
I also only have an off/on switch I got at Home Depot and it works just fine.

My schedule now appears to have a conflict that weekend so..................right now it's not looking good. Thumbsdown

Any suggestions for where to meet for lunch,

Oh if I for some reason end up leading, pay attention this time, I can't see a high vis suit if you are 2 km behind (and around the last corner).

The bike is clean, chain is lubed -  going to take a colours ride up to Parry Sound via Elmvale>Bala>Port Carling>Rosseau>Huntsville>Sundridge>Parry Sound.

Calling for 18c  and full sun -perfect Cool
I will be on the bike again on Friday with my wife for a colours ride - loop unknown as of yet -Although I'm sure she would welcome a nice lunch a The Windermere

Have a great Thanksgiving Bigsmile - gobble gobble.

Was there a single motorcycle rider in Ontario who was not on the Peterson road yesterday?

But it was a gorgeous day for it...

Anybody in the Barrie area? I am still at CFB Borden and I now have my bike here with me Inlove  I am here for 1 more week. I graduate Friday the 17th of Oct.  If anyone is around and you see a silver viffer with Alberta plates, and the rider wearing a black joe rocket leather jacket with honda all over it, and a silver Nolan helmet that would most likely be me...unless I have an identical pervert,  I mean twin.

Hey I met Rigger for lunch yesterday. It was good to see him. The last time was PSSBR 2006. He joined Richard, Glen, Donna, Corynne and myself for a ride up to Killarney for the best fish and chips ever.

No Kidding. I've really gotta learn to control that.  Lol Corynne and I met Ray for coffee, well hot chocolate, after the gym last night. Silly me. All this time I thought his trade was a Rigger. I'd tell you what it is but then I'd have to shoot ya. I should have caught on when he said he was at an AIR FORCE training centre taking a leadership coarse. It turns out he works at 42 Radar up in Cold Lake, a unit I was posted to in the late seventies. You knew I was old, but you had no idea right? lol The place has changed a lot in 30 years. He gave me a sqaudron coin. Something an enlisted man would do by the way. Razz

Corynne and I had a nice ride back in the rain. You know it's getting late in the season when a ride at 10:00 in the dark and in the rain, is a nice ride.

Don't want to put a damper on this weekend but the colors are done, in fact most of the leaves are off and with the current rain and expected overnight snow in the highlands the road conditions are quite slick. Take care going into the corners, I had the rear step out big time this morning on wet leaves and when it hooked up I almost highsided , caught me by surprise as didn't think you could do that at 20 Kmh. Didn't need any Timm's this morning to wake me up that's for sure.

Same thing happened to me this morning only it didn't slide out near that much. I wasn't going that fast either. Very slippery. I almost took the car as there was reports of snow in the region.

A few of us met for a short ride on Saturday. It was a very frosty start, but turned out very nice. Five BlackBirds and two ZX14s in total.

Well guys... Bancroft is packed in with fog right now, like Belfast on a spring day!
The good news is that they are calling for a 100% chance of "Rain, Heavy at times" on Saturday... Thumbsdown

Is anybody still interested?

I'll keep checking this thread all day to see whats going on, who knows this might be the one time Environment Canada is wrong! Lol

Sorry to say I'm out.

I took today off and took advantage of the weather and empty roads.
Managed to convert a marginal front tire into a slick  Lol but the tire budget is blown for the year and the weather forecast is not looking to good for bald front tires.

Nope, it is pretty bad near Lindsay as well, time to do some wrenching rather than riding. Just checked the Weather Channel and the forecast for next weekend looks cooler, but no rain.        Maybe.

My bike is clean and I'm ready for the ride - but it looks like the skies are about to let go serious amounts of rain - so I'm out.

I think I'll sit down in front of the Telly with my beer and watch Worlds Fastest Indian Smile

I spent the weekend working on the garage and driving the tractor. I got soaked 3 times but at least the trailer has a hot shower and I had extra clothing. Man what a crappy weekend! But I now have a really nice place to park the bike. Twofinger

Well, it was warm enough on Sat. but the rain was on and off heavy all day. I did manage to get a little ride in for about 20 minutes before it started to come down again.

Season is ending quick! Total ride time last week. 20 minutes! I think I feel something coming on for Friday though.. calling for 13 and sunny.

Todays weather was great, 20 on the way home. Saturday is going to be colder, but it doesn't matter, I'm going for a ride anyway.
Any others?

I rode 285 k today - unfortunately in the wrong direction- I was in the the big smoke ,Finch & Dufferin area, then over to Brampton to meet my daughter who was picking up a new car.
After that it wsn't to bad - headed north to King RD , over to Airport Rd. after a while cutting right and eventually riding through Base Borden and onward home.

Saturday is car washing day, Sunday Headscratch  Next week is looking good Cool

After that I think the bike will be put away with in the next two weeks Sad

My old neck of the woods. I grew up near Jane 'n Finch (gasps from the audience). We bailed out of there when the writing was on the wall in 79 to come North. Haven't regretted it at all. Now, I avoid T.O. whenever ever possible. As for Borden, my bro lives in Angus and I'm down there at least 4 or 5 times a year. The ride through Base Borden is kinna on the nice side!

South Western Ontario is having some very nice weather this week. Well the first part of it anyhow!

I rode to work yesterday and it was very nice riding home at 2am.

A lot nicer than it will be driving home at 2am in January.

Did anyone get out over the weekend? It was very nice. Unfortunately I was away at a training camp and got no riding in at all.

BTW Base Borden now has spot checks at all gates in case you didn't notice. If you're stopped, do not tell them you are cutting through the base or they will turn you away and tell you to go around. You're meeting someone for coffee at Tims, don't forget that. The Lisle Gate is closed at night now; 10:00 pm to 6:00 am or something like that. If you go through the range road toward Lisle, they sanded during the snow a week ago so those nice corners are no longer nice.

I rode through the western gate where the MP station is - no manned check point - but the east side was manned.

From what I can tell they do different checks at the two gates. At the Angus gate there is someone there nearly all the time and they will randomly select vehicles for ID checks. Trucks get pulled over 100% of the time though. At the Alliston Gate, at least in the off-hours they will leave it unattended at times, and then stop and check every car at other times. Take note of the speed limit change on the south access road. It's 60 down from 80. The MPs have at least six times the patrol cars/sq km than anywhere else in the province, no exaggeration, so not a good place to speed.

Yup and your taxes are going toward all those extra commissionaires. It was the whim of a previous Base Commander. For some reason they felt it necessary to reduce traffic through the base, hence the speed limit reduction as well.

Yesterday was far too nice outside, and the weekend is, once again, forecast to be pretty sucky, so I called in sick and went for a ride.  My Lovely Wife and I rode up to Collingwood to take a picture for a photo tag running on another forum.

Got the shot but didn't get it posted in time.  What a day though.  Longest ride yet on the old 650: about 450 km.  The bike ran just fine, no issues at all.

There's a real weird feel to this time of year.  I don't know if it's the angle of the sunlight, the haze that's always there on a warm day in November, or maybe just the lack of leaves on trees, but nothing looked familiar.  It felt like we were exploring.

Both my bikes are still going.  Maybe the 15th will work out.

Not quite yet for me. Although I did take the car today, Yesterday (Sunday) I rode the bike. I left the gym in Barrie at about 9:00 pm and by then there was a thick film of ice on the bike. Not freezing rain but frozen rain. The roads were ok though. I can safely say I got my monies worth out of the grip warmers now.

Well I'm done for the year. Put the bikes away last Saturday. Got all my gear cleaned up (Okay, I wiped off and febreezed my helmet - it still counts!).

Seems odd getting stuff in the mail for the bike (Techmount, Kisan headlight modulator) and the bikes nowhere to be seen.

I'm gonna have to go over to buddies where their stored, I think I left my key in the ignition.. .. and he's a Bandit rider.. no good can come from that.

Did manage to get together on Nov 8th with a high of 11C with a group (7 of us total) from Toronto BMW for a rip from 35/115 up through Bobcaygeon to Haliburton and back.  Totaled 570kms (including slab from west of the big smoke to the meet), almost lost the front during a left when crossing the double yellow and had trouble finding "my little friend" at every rest stop.  Still a nice run, hopefully I can get in one or two more before the dreaded season of storage.
