I bought 'em. They made the 'stitch a little harder to fit, being female and all I already had a bit of padding in that area. I'm glad I have them; they make me feel more comfortable, although I haven't tested them yet Smile

I bought 'em shortly after I went down due to a deer strike. The only bruising I suffered was to my left hip, so I made up for that gear shortcoming.

Recommended purchase.

I've crashed a couple times, once seriously and once minor.  Hip pads are a very good investment.

Got knocked over at a standstill while on my bike. The hip armor I had (CE from Hein Gericke) worked...not a bruise. Landed smack on it.

FYI, there is no CE standard for hip armor, but I agree it is very helpful in a crash.

I had a crash where I hit on my hip with foam padding, and it still ripped my bicycle shorts from the friction.

My hip was fine.

Seeing as how many street riders hit the bars with their thighs and the ground with their hips, I would like to see some serious thigh armor and hip armor.

Oddly, my Motoport gear came with thigh armor, but no hip armor.  Go figure.Shrug  (Yes, I know it is an option, but I got them used.)

Use the freaking SEARCH function already !!!

Smile

I've got them as well. They just velcro in, to velcro patches on the jacket. Seemed kind of cheesy when I first got them, but after 3 years and ~60K miles ... they've stayed put and seem to do pretty well. They're in my stich for every trip I do ... wouldn't think of riding without them.

I have some and wear them in my Darien pants, but because of the way the pants fit, they end up being inconvenient to locate properly.  So I located them improperly, too far to the rear and too low.

My dad (2-piece Roadcrafter) managed to get his to stay over his pelvic bones, what I would consider the proper placement.

Pads are good.  The 'stich pads are pretty good, though the hip ones have no hardshells, so they don't quite perform as well as good CE pads.  You may consider velcroing in something else.

The CE standard does cover hip pieces. It's also a crucial area for protection.

The soft TF-2 doesn't cut it for impact absorption close to CE requirements.

He best hip armor is either T-Pro or Hiprotec. The Hiprotec is the thinnest at 6mm, requires pockets, or snaps into First Gear/Gericke products. I'd add velcro for proper placement/adjustment. The T-Pro can be had in thicker layers for higher performance.

I went down about 25-30mph. Hid pads in, no hip or leg issues. Highly recco them! They do make taking the Stich off a touch more of a PITA, but it's so minor (I have the 2pc, always zipped together). Also have the back protector.

I highly recommend them.  They feel a bit wierd (constricting?) at first, if you're used to riding without them, but they "disappear" in no time.

If you think of all the ways to fall off of a motorcycle, most of them will involve landing on a hip at some point.

I've crashed both street and dirt with the Aero hip pads -- worth every penny. Thumbsup
