The peak fall colors are rolling south through Wisc.
I'm thinking of heading to central WI to take in the color show (and take some pics).

Anyone got a good route / roads to / thru central WI?
How about places to eat?

How gelled do my plans need to be to call a meet?

Central is okay but the Door county area is really nice when it changes. Least I think so.  Bigsmile

Everyone thinks Door Cty is nice, so everyone goes there... which makes for lousy traffic.

I have never hit bad traffic going there, I guess I have been lucky.

Things are starting to get nicely colorful up here Hip'er.  You might try the area between Tomah and Eau Claire, paralleling the Interstate.  Quick access for you, both to and from plus there's a lot of nice riding in there and probably an area you haven't spent a lot of time in.

Just an idea.....

Hansons Holdup is in that area.  Would make a good lunch and view stop.

I'd like to go Saturday. Arcadia may be a little far...

I can post a route suggestion later.

I was just up north this past weekend...  The colors were turning late according to the locals, but they thought that they would be peaking sometime this weekend.  Here's a shot taken near Montreal, WI (just west of Whitecap Ski area)

Ok, so the first attempt seemed too small, now the second attempt is too big... oh well.

Ok, here's a suggestion in 3 parts for a Saturday ride.

Starts at Denny's in Middleton and ends at Quaker Steak and Lube. Should start 9-9:30.

My Zumo shows a total of 318 miles for 6 hours 21 minutes. It may be a little ambitious, but can be cut back at any time.

That's nice, and all...
But travelwisconsin.com's fall color report says the better colors are more north than west.

That looks like a good ride Bob.  It may not take in the peak color areas, but still looks like it could be fun.  Is a go for sure?

Thanks for the link, I'll be heading out to that dark red block on the south end of Lake Winnebago shortly.

Here's my route:

View Larger Map" target="_blank">http://View Larger Map

I'll be at Suzies cafe on the east edge of Lomira at 8:30 Saturday morning for breakfast.  Stands up about 9:30.

After this route I'm going to the German Harverst Fest in Omro for late lunch, early dinner (I grew up on german cooking) and music (gonna get my 'oomp-ha' on!).

I was thinking about heading up Hwy 55 from Shawano to Crandon on Saturday. Probably stop at Perkins in Shawano for breakfast first, and leave there about 10am
