I finally broke down and washed my bug collection off after a neighborhood tomcat pissed on my Darien. Luckily I wasn't wearing it at the time. To my knowledge. (Side note: Aerostiches are NOT cat-urine resistant Crazy).

Anyhoo, the fabric strip along the top back inside seam got loosened by the unexpected contact with soap and water. Should I worry about it? Will it be less water-and-urine-proof without that fabric strip in place?

Yes- you will get wet if it rains hard enough (or if you slow down too much  Razz).  Give them a call and they will recommend a sealing product.

If the jacket isn't a million years old and the seam split by just a wash I am almost certain they will warranty that.

If they will not warranty, they will repair at reasonable cost. That's one of the best reasons for choosing Aerostich.

The seam tape is for comfort, not water sealing.

You can try ironing it down. You can try fabric cement.

You can help prevent seam tape from coming loose by following the washing/drying directions in the catalog and shipped with your suit.

One piece of seam tape on my Darien has come loose after only ten years and 100k miles.   Mad2    Wink  It's the piece on the neck... I think lack of washing and body oil took it's toll. I bought a new Darien... may send the old in for refurbishing.
