OK, the definitive answer for those in Minnesota - brake modulators or hyper lights, are illegal...


Seems like an easy fix. Hidden switch to turn off hyper lights on pullover. Insist you were flashing your brake light manually and/or the officer be trippin' ....

Minnesota law says one thing and the Minnesota Motorcycle Safety Center recommends another. The law says only two head lights while the safety center recommends more. Law says no flashing brake lights while the safety center recommends flashing lights. See: www.highviz.org .

MMSC does not recommend more headlights (as in high/low beam units).  Instructors are required to inform students of that MN law.

MMSC does not recommend flashing brake light modules.  They recommend flashing your good old stock brake light to warn drivers behind you that you are about to stop.
