It is here as well. Pretty slushy, but is supposed to melt/freeze overnight. Now we get to see people get used to driving in the snow again.

Yowza!

Sat evening I went up to the second lookout/vista point from Estes Park at Rocky Mountain National Park. Not much life stirring on the road. It was a misty evening with a bit of fog. Windshield wipers and the `shield were icing up but no flurries. Maybe if I went a bit farther up (I think I was past 10K feet).

Some spots about the state did get snow - I-70 @ Eisenhower Tunnel had some (and an accident IIRC).

Its staying cool enough here to keep the snow around.   Sad  I was hoping it would warm up a little as I didn't get the sprinkler system blown out yet.

We're only at 3000 feet, so I'd hate to think what would have happened at real elevation.  Smile

well, we didn't get any accumulation here on the base to really speak of, but hear that the Hills got 3-4 inches. i went up there yesterday on the FJR to check it out and yep, they got some snow, but a lot had melted off. got some pics too. it got a bit cool (around mid 30's) while riding, but no biggie. it's in the 50's today. and back up in low 60's by late week.

have fun you all.

There were some flakes lower down on Sunday as well. Nothing that stuck but certainly the first fall of the winter. Nice little ride in to work yesterday with the wet roads.

Nah, no problem with the roads. Lots of fog + 34* = black ice comments on the news though  Rolleyes Plus the wackos who hit the freeway ramps at speed and wonder why they're sliding all over.  Rolleyes

I had some bonehead make a right from 199 onto Hover as I was passing through the intersection. He tried to merge across two lanes of traffic into the left turn lane in about a block. Too bad for me that I was already in the lane. I beeped to alert him I was there and then he beeped because he's the result of a drop of anal leakage.

Fricking idiot.

I'm good though Smile

But it's 87F due to the fires in the hills keeping the temps up. And I wonder on the "Sunny" aspect - sunny, if you could see through the smoke-n-haze?

But aside from the jib - I hope all turns out well w/ the fires.

dammit Jim so civil!  Actually it is completely clear at the beach, all the problems are inland.  It's hot because of the seasonal Santa Ana winds which blow from the desert.

Anyway, must be nice to have a crisp morning and not worry about fire and pollution...

Actually, the mountains and skiing are maybe an hour drive from Los Angeles - the Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead resorts.  There's also Mammoth Lakes which is about a 4 hour drive from LA and that is a huge ski area.  Want to see the leaves turn and change of seasons? Go for an hour ride...
Northern CA is a whole 'nuther thing - gorgeous mountains, redwoods, snow in winter etc etc.
Some people outside CA think CA is just Hollywood and strip malls....  When in actuality it is Hollywood, strip malls, hot chicks, beaches, deserts, mountains, redwoods, lakes and snow.

My brother lived in Huntington Beach for several years (first job out of college - an Illinois boy). He said that the one thing he missed the most was a good thunderstorm. The "70's and sunny" prolly made up for it though - especially mid-Jan thru Mid-Feb.

Most people in Colorado (yes even the Cali-imports) have the following reaction.

"YEA! SNOW!"

Thats the big difference in the socio-geographic demographic....Most people in Colorado Love the Winter
as much as the summer. It gives us new sports, new TOYS to pay with.

A great time to put your bike in the shop for a full once over, while you grab the snowshoes and get some exercise!

it is funny how even adults can get giddy when they see the first snowfall.
I was like that when I was visiting a g/f in Minneapolis over Thanksgiving a few years ago.  After shovelling her driveway for the 3rd time IN THE SAME DAY!!!, it kinda blew...
But man o man, nothing like smelling the fresh air in the mountains after a snow fall.

Yeah snow is good, but out here in the flatland, it doesn't really accumulate enough for a sled, and the good riding and ski hills are a ways away.  Plus when it gets cold, it really gets cold.  Usually I'm okay with it, but this year the shorter days and early snow is getting to me a bit.   Sad  I should take up the excercise that was suggested, it would help.

Cali does have some different climates in a short distance.  But the number of people in that area is a bit much for me.  Thumbsdown

Lots of snow, or just the rainy wet stuff that makes the pavement wet.  It has been nice here for a couple of days.

No snow here yet, but we are forecast to go into the tank this weekend. Highs around freezing for next week.

Go figure, I spend the last couple of years trying to get fired, and when I do the riding season ends. Mad2

Neither. The powdery stuff that just blows all over the road. A "dusting" so to speak. Some of it melted on the front of the bike but generally it was more like someone shredded some packing material and it was blowing all over the road.
