Since the rear of the SV isn't well lit, I added LEDs from Custom Dynamics.

This one gives a more realistic comparison:
There are various models of the SV: K3, K4 that vary in their wiring. The owners manual gives the model number. A shop manual shows the various wiring configs. I tied into the license plate light circuit. I put running lights on the sides of the radiator, as well. The federal Dot regs are OK with ambers, as long as they don't interfere with the brake light. PaDOT doesn't mention motorcycles in particular, it does spec colors for multipurpose passenger vehicles, buses/trucks. For them, the tail lights shall be red. Worse case- I'd switch them with red ones. The 12 led strip above the brake light is really bright.
I used amber so the brake light wouldn't be overwhelmed.
