looking for R1200RT owners to help me decide

Hello guys,
I put a deposit down on a loaded '06 RT.
I ride a DL1000 now, and owned an ST1300.
Having never owned a BMW, I am uncertain about what to expect from the Boxer. I rode an older 1150 GS, and wasn't real impressed. However, the 1200 is supposedly much smoother and more powerful, which I am hoping makes it easier to live with.
If there are any RT owners that can tell me more about the bike's mannerisms I'd really appreciate it. I'd like the bike to be smooth at about 90-100 mph.

I rode an R1200RT 1400 miles over 7 days through the Canadian Rockies last summer. It's a great touring bike. Very comfortable, plenty of storage space, cruise control, great protection from the elements. It's not the most powerful tourer on the planet but it does have enough mid-range torque to make the front end light in 1st and 2nd gear if you snap the throttle open. AMHIKT. There is no heat issue like the ST1300 since the heads are air and oil cooled and there is no radiator... just an oil cooler. I've ridden an R1150GS Adventure and own an R1200GS. The 1200 is definitely smoother and more powerful than the 1150. If you're looking for a big HP tourer, this is not it... that would be the K1200GT. It's not a smooth as an I-4. At cruising speed you can feel the engine pulsing but I wouldn't call it vibey. Because of this positive experience I had no qualms about buying my R1200GS... same engine/drive train.
I was very impressed by how the bike handles. Very neutral handling. You just think about turning and the bike turns. The bike I was on was shod with Metzeler Z6s.
With BMW Corporate's encouragement most dealerships have demo bikes. Find a dealership with an R1200RT demo bike. If one's not available, try any of the R1200 series to get a feel for the engine/drive train.

See my response to your other post. Smooth as any other motorcycle I've ridden at 100 mph.
