Just emailed with Dave and we agree your offer is a good one.  Thumbsup  If folks could chip in $15 - $20 it would be much appreciated for bevvies and food.  See edit above in "The BBQ" section.  Thumbsup Thumbsup Thumbsup

Thanks for raising this Kim ... we are shy folk out here !!!   Smile

Jim just to be sure everyone understands this would let us arrange to have all the eats for both Fri. and Sat. night you where FAR to generous last year, and as you said the rest would be wisely invested in some refreshing bevy's. The thinking is, itwould be a lot easier if we bought everything ahead of time and had it ready, this way no one would have to worry about it after a long ride.
any thought or better idea's are welcome

I`m sure that this falls into the "it goes without saying" category.  I`ll gladly chip in $$ whenever you would like.

Can't speak for Jim (Bubba) but if we have a good head count the week prior he and I can go get all the goodies and you can chip in when you arrive at Bubba's Fri. night. OK for you Jim?  I will be there a day or 2 ahead of time.

Sounds like a good plan. Be happy to help out with the shopping and even some pre tasting to ensure that nothing is contaminated.   Wink

Doukhobor Borscht. It is vegitarian. Kootenay is a bastardization of the name of the local Indians, the Kutanai .. or more properly Ktunaxa Nation - pronounce Ta na ha.

You coming ?

Hmmm...I go away for a week, and look what happens.

Planning!

Oh well, probably best done without me (the planning, that is!--My wife jokes about how I consider "organization" to be "that O word.")

I'll confirm later, of course, but I also have some spare room for attendees--although it may be "floor space."  For those confirmed campers, my front yard is an acre...(there's another acre in back).

I'm gonna suggest, right here, that we meet for breakfast on the Saturday morning, at the Frog Peak Cafe, located at the junction of Pass Creek Road and Hwy 6 (and yes, it's conveniently near my home Twofinger)  Great food, and if it's planned and confirmed I'll speak to the owners about maybe a special deal or something.

Sadly, Sportbike West is no more.  The organizers decided that it was getting to be too much work for them.  I attended the last three years (in Oliver B.C.) and found it to be a lot of fun, not the squidfest I thought it would be. You are correct though, those roads! Drool Banana

Bubba, sorry about the hijack.

Hi Bubba, I was just wondering, do you guys ever stop at The Mushroom Addition restaurant in Fauquier? I always thought that it was a cool place, and the owner is very bike friendly.

He is and I have .. it is just a question of how many stops. I think the mushroom and the cafe at the summit ( I had amazing cinnamon buns once .. read once  ... the other three times they have been out ) ... options. If you have more web or postable ... is that a word?  Headscratch ... info that would be great. Please suggest any stops you think others might like.

All in all, a ride like this is more a personal thing and too large a group of riders scares me anyway.

Historically, I take up the rear in larger group rides in case anyone goes astray or has other issues. Also this is the most dangerous position in a group ride what with the last to pass and falling behind. That would best be me in a ride I help organize. Besides ... I can't keep up to Kootenanny, alphabet man or GetFuzzy. LOL ...  Bigok

If anyone can suggest a stop near to Lumby for lunch, we could contact the owner and perhaps make a reservation. I do not know the area that well to suggest a place to stop. Yet.

Hey Bubba I'm back from the Chuck, saw all the sites, Kwackers home town of Crossfield  Rolleyes then a lovely straight boreing drive to the big town of Red deer to pick up #2 daughter then on to the wonderful Capitol city that Baz calls home, sheesh no wonder you guys need to come to BC to ride.

Any way I see lots of planning going on as far as the ride goes, this is great but here are my thoughts, please feel free to tell me to go piss up a tree if you feel the need. The ride last year was great but this year with a few more people attending it would be nice if we had the ride part of things a bit less structured. I think Kootenanny's idea of hooking up for breakfast would be great but then after that maybe people could form a couple of smaller groups and ride how and when they want, arriving to a common destination loosely around the same time. Hopefully the bunch of us have enough social skills to get to know each other well enough to ride together in smaller groups with out a "leader". We (that's you and me) will supply everybody with a good map and some phone #'s then maybe a couple of the locals could jump ahead of the group, who could volunteer for this? cough cough Geoff, and a couple of loacal's could be sort of in the last pack to do a bit of a sweep.
 Just my $.02
