I wish I was REV'IT! God, I would implement many changes such as OUTER waterproof liners.

By the way leaky liners are not that common. I have heard about them but never seen one in person. Most leaks occur around the openings and the liner is not to blame.

I like the REV'IT! gear a lot.  However, I have noticed several quality control issues.

First problems I encountered were with gloves.  I bought a pair of REVIT Fahrenheit H2O Gloves in which the fingers wore out after one winter season.  The have gone to full leather instead of the cloth outer in the newer models.

The second problem was with a pair of Dakar pants.  After a tour around the midwest last spring/summer (which included several days of rain), the front seams on top of the thighs were totally blownout.  Those top seams are not double stitched or "welded" and it was like the material just let go.  Very disappointing for a pair of pants that are advertised as "adventure touring" pants.  To the credit of the store were I purchased them, they gave me a pair of REV'IT Cayenne Pro Pants to replace them.

In contrast to the above, however, the Off Track and Ignition jackets have proven very nice and durable, and the GT Course Race Gloves are brilliant.

Since the Ignition jacket and the race gloves have worn so well for the last 4 years, I really can't complain about REV'IT! stuff.  I figure it was just my turn to find the bad apples in the cart.

I would say your seam issue on DAKAR pants in a fluke. I have sold dozens of these pants and never heard of one issue with them. Have you tried talking to REV'IT! about it? They are very good when it comes to warranty replacements. Cheers,

Sorry I have not back sooner. Yes I got my liner the next day, can't beat that for service and this one so far does not leak. But I do not think I would go the liner route again. It has been raining a lot here in the CT. and yes I am staying dry ( OK the crotch on my Cotech pants leak) from the waist up but the jacket stays wet so when I go to work in the AM after riding home in the rain I have to put on a wet jacket so you have to leave the liner in which does not breath that well and if it is hot and humid. Not nice.
But the trade off is without the liner on a hot day when the jacket is dry it is much cooler then my old  kilimanjaro.

Yes, that is one of the trade offs of two piece liner system. This is why I prefer packing one piece rain suit, it's small, lightweight and my gear always stays dry and clean.

I guess that's one reason I REALLY like my Infinity suit... Waterproof/breathable shell and I never have to worry about rain...  Bigok

Funny that you mentioned INFINITY. I actually cannot wait until the weather permits me to wear mine, it's such a nice feeling to be comfortable when others think you are cold and wet  Bigsmile

Guys,

REV'IT! pulled the trigger and some items finally went on sale. Most notably:

SIROCCO Jacket - $110 less than it used to be http://www.beachmoto.com/revit/jackets/sirocco.php

NAVIGATOR Jacket - $137.50 savings over old retail http://www.beachmoto.com/image/revit/jackets/index/navigator.jpg

There are more items, all listed here http://www.beachmoto.com/revit/clearance.php. That's a way to stimulate the market  Bigok

Why do the tall sizes stop at a 42 waist?  No love for the big guys.    Hard to find gear when you are 6' 4" and 240 lbs.

I have no idea  Headscratch Probably because they feel that the market for such sizes is pretty limited.

Did something stupid to my Sensor jacket.......which is my favorite cold weather jacket. It's 4 years old and was starting to smell funky so I put it in the washing machine(Yes, I know hand wash only...found the laundry label in the removable liner after the fact) with my stitch jacket.

When it came out the sewn in  lining looked like it was in a cat fight and the stitch won by a knock out Crazy. Since the lining holds the armor in place I guess the jacket is toast.

Question..... Is there anyway the lining can be replaced and would it be feasible to do?  If not does Revit make a comparable  jacket with no vents with  waterproofing incorporated into the outer shell?

I still don't get how a simple tumbling in some warm water for 15 minutes will damage a jacket that's supposed to withstand sliding and tumbling down the concrete pavement at 50 mph. Headscratch

Where...?

[can't figure out how to include my quote in your quote]

I said 2 local dealers had a good selection of Rev'It Gear.  Desimone Motorsports in Marlton, NJ has some, and Martin Moto in Boyertown has a bunch.  Timely response, eh?

Marty,

It's possible to fix anything but in case of 4 year old jacket it's probably not cost effective.

SHADE jacket is built the same way, with waterproof membrane built into the fabric. Is has a couple of small vents though.

Any jacket is designed for abrasion resistance and comfort, not for tumbling in a washer  Bigsmile

That doesn't sound like a very informative answer. Can you specify what the washer does that the tumble won't?  Headscratch

Well, for starters it could destroy your inner liner like in the post above.....  Bigsmile

Hmmmm....... that means my Roadcrafter jacket(which was in the washing machine with the Sensor and not a thread out of place) is not really designed to protect me if I should come into contact with the pavement.
Go figure Headscratch Lol
