I'm looking to replace a set of British Motorcycle Gear Pioneer pants.  Is the Rev It Proton trousers comparable?  Does it have a loops in the waistband for suspender attachment?

PROTON pants are not available on US market. If you want a pant that is very similar to your BMG pant try FACTOR. Otherwise look into more versatile SAND pant (http://www.beachmoto.com/revit/pants/sand.php), they rock.

Any comments re. SportRider magazine (March 2010) slamming the Infinity suit?

Kinda late to the party, but I'll comment on it. For starters, I don't think that they've ever worn or tired fabric gear before. Complaining the the suit is stiff. Hell, compared to other Cordura gear that i've owned/own this suit was down right supple. Even more so after a couple of cold water runs through the washer. The zipper does take a little getting used to, but if my fat ass (and belly) can bend over and get it zipped then those kids with the hard bodies shouldn't have any problems. The zipper lube can be purchased at any dive shop as it zipper is the same one used in diving suits. And I can't figure out how there's got so wet and mine have kept me completely dry in a number of PNW downpours. The liner is no more course that my other riding gear. They must be a bunch of SoCal pussies...  Lol The suit flows an amazing amount of air and the suit's material actually allows some air the flow and still remains waterproof.

Now the lower outside pockets SUCK. That's been my only real complaint. I know I must sound like an advertisement for Rev'it, but they've made a believer out of me... So much that I'm replacing the reminder of my other gear with the Sand jacket and pants. The jacket just came today and I hope to give it a try this weekend.  And if it works as I'm sure it will, I'll order the Sand pants.

I like to lead with this pic just so ya know I'm nuts going in. I thought I'd chime in with my experience with ReV'it! gear and some questions.

First came the Nemo boots in 2006. Great all-day comfort, loved the Skywalk footbed but the boots started leaking profusely in less than a year. They were so comfortable I thought I'd try again. The dealer was out of Nemo's so I bought a pair of Fusion's. Fast forward another year - not only to the Fusion boots leak, they're falling apart as well. Uncle. Who was making those boots for ReV'it and are they better now? I bought TCX Air-Tech for summer and Sidi On Road for winter - problem solved.

Fall of 2007 I tried on every pair of touring pants I could get my hands on to go with my AST (hated the Ranger's) until I discovered the Dakar's. Ahhh. To date they're most comfortable and versatile pants ever! I ride 18k a year and I like them even more now than when they were new. I experienced minor seepage in the seat area during heavy rain but a periodic dowsing of the liner and exterior with Scotchgard or Texsport waterproofing spray does the trick. They still look like new too, so at this rate, they should give me years of service.

Now my Olympia jacket is 4 years old and starting to leak around the arm vents. How does the fit of the XL Navigator compare with my size Large AST? Does it have that nifty peripheral conjoining zipper to match my Dakar's? How's availability - will there be any left this fall?

Hi there,

Compared to your Olympia the NAVIGATOR will feel less bulky and warmer. It also will ventilate better. It does have connecting zippers to mate it to your DAKAR pants. As far as availability, I doubt I will have it this fall considering I only have one XL left. It's not discontinued worldwide, just on US market. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks Dennis. I just pulled a chest measurement  of 45" and determined I needed a size XXL. Your site indicated out of stock as did most sites I checked. Then I got a little anxious. Luckily, I located one at a Beemer dealer in Colorado and jumped on it - cheap too.

Thanks again Dennis, you were right. I wish I could have done business with you but there's always next time. I mis-measured so the XXL was too roomy. Luckily I was able to exchange it. The XL fits like a glove and is quite comfortable.

I appreciate the adjustable snap on the collar. The flap has a loop on the end which connects to a molded plastic hook on the left side to keep it out of the way. It used to bug me when the velcro would snag the helmet chin strap. There's no way that can happen here.

The thermal liner appears to be of the same material as the liner in my Dakar pants and my legs have never been cold, even at 20f.

The waterproof liner looks to be well constructed and effective and can be worn off the bike as a jacket but it LOOKS more like an inner liner than a stand-alone garment. No biggie.

The Navigator comes with Pro Life shoulder and elbow armor which is very good. The thin foam back pad however, is useless IMHO. I'm really glad I decided to upgrade to the SAS Tec back pad. It's the nicest I've seen. I can only describe it as extremely dense tempur foam which bends and conforms to the contour of the back. Even though an inch thick, there is no stiffness. I hardly know it's back there. I would highly recommend the SAS Tec to anyone who wants to upgrade.

Well there ya have it. I know this review is somewhat academic since supplies are almost gone. The Navigator has been replaced in the ReV'it! line by the Dragon which has the same cut and liner system. I think this is a great closeout deal on a fantastic jacket. If you can still find one, I'd get it.

Okay Rev'It gurus, I am in need to replace my current Rev'It cold weather/waterproof gloves.  No idea which version they are, a few years old for sure, but are amazingly warm and waterproof, but the thumb on one hand is losing its outershell and getting worn.

So, I want a new set of gloves for cool weather riding, say down to about 35 degrees that are without exception 100% waterproof and ideally have a thumb wiper like my Held Profi's have to use for general commuting and touring.  I was leaning toward Held Raindrops, but they are no longer made and the closeouts aren't in my size.

Suggestions?

Ken,

I would like to correct you on two things:

1. NAVIGATOR has quite different thermal liner from your DAKAR pants. It may look the same, but the feeling is much warmer (at the same weight)
2. DRAGON is not replacing the NAVIGATOR. Even though they look somewhat the same, DRAGON is really entry level jacket compared to top of the line NAVIGATOR. NAVIGATOR is not going to be offered in US, but it's still a current jacket in REV'IT!'s 2010 collection.

Enjoy your new jacket,

Dennis

Well, I can highly recommend TEMPEST gloves. They will feel thinner than your current gloves, but just as warm. Fully waterproof and extremely comfortable. They do not have thumb wiper though. Regards,

Dennis

Here we go: http://www.beachmoto.com/revit/gloves/tempest.php

For what it's worth, I got a set myself and I love them. They do NOT feel like winter gloves at all, more like waterproof ones with slightly thicker liner.

D.

I'll check them out, thanks.

How does the sizing run?  I normally wear a medium, but the gloves I have now are a bit tight to get on and off.

This particular glove runs about average, so you should probably stick with M. You want it as snug as possible, otherwise PCM will not work as advertised.

Just to let you guys know, REV'IT! just reduced MSRP on TURBINE jacket and pants and on PHOENIX jacket. Keep in mind that prices are valid until September 1st or while supplies last.

REV'IT! TURBINE Jacket

Fantastic full mesh jacket made from the best materials available.

Available in 3 colors - Black, Silver and Silver / Dark Titanium. Keep in mind that it runs a bit bigger than your typical REV'IT! jacket.

Original MSRP $379.99
SALE $309.99

REV'IT! TURBINE Pants

Perfect match for above mentioned jacket. As a bonus, you also get removable waterproof liner, so you will be able to use these all year round.

TURBINE Pants are available in Black or Silver. They also run a bit big.

Original MSRP $329.99
SALE $269.99

REV'IT! PHOENIX Jacket. This one is made from high quality Monaco Performance cowhide and strong Dynax mesh. The fit is sport oriented (nice and snug) and it runs one size smaller than the size chart recommends. Every person that ever tried this jacket commented that it fits like a glove.

PHOENIX is available in Black and White Black.

Original MSRP $429.99
SALE $349.99

OK here is a question I have had ever since I bought my Offtrack jacket and matched them with the Dakar pants. I love the jacket and the features seem well thought out. My only concern with the pants is that the material in the seat is thin and not reinforced in anyway. All the other elements including the fit, stitching, armor placement and pockets etc. seem well thought out. But the fabric in the seat seems real thin and that would be where one would be likely to slide in a lowside.  Off road I would have little if any concern but on the highway I have some niggling doubts.

What say you?

Is there any performance data on the fabric used in the pants?

I also love the fit of the Dakar / Off -Track combo.  That being said I don't really think the pants are up to the duty of sliding on asphalt.  Think of this as an off road suit.  The fabric on my pants disintegrated in the wash. Not the seams, the actual fabric.  To their credit, Rev-it did replace them after speaking with their corporate staff.  My local dealer was NO help in the matter at all.
