I like the way the gear looks, although I never bought any of it (mostly because I have tons of gear already) then my BF needed a pair of new ST boots and bought a pair of REV'it boots. They were supposed to be waterproof but leaked all the way through two months later during the first big ride in the rain. REV'it was very understanding and they sent him a new pair of boots as long as he returned the defective pair, they said they used to have problems with quality but it was resolved.

New boots, going touring a month later, first big rain, they leaked all the way through  Crazy  this was a few months ago, he's not happy. I hope the jackets are better than the boots, they do look very nice.

Pics from the ride, he had to ride 4 days in the rain with plastic bags inside his boots  Thumbsdown

Merv,

Shade jacket has waterproof liner built in, however I don't think it qualifies as a short one:

Hi Dennis

Is there a short Revit jacket (and pants) that is/are waterproof in it's/their own right?  ie no liner?

I have a build reminiscent of a wine barrel with shoulders so the short jacket is essential, though the Dakar jacket was a good fit but felt just too bulky with the liners in.

I am a stich wearer and would really rather layer up than have fitted linings.

Cheers

Merv

This is not news to me. Once in a while even the best piece of equimpent may not work. I actually have a pair of the same boots and they leak as well. I tried to pinpoint the problem by submerging them in the water but they don't leak! I'm thinking somehow the water finds its way in thorugh the top? Maybe this is why they are not a part of collection this year, two boots that are advertised as waterproof are waterproof (tested last month in Baja, APACHE and RIVAL) I know it doesn't solve ARBY's problem for you though. All 4 jackets that I have have been 100% waterproof.

Jim already answered your question, here is the picture:

Thanks Jim Smile

Dennis

So you recommend that over the Sirocco or Off Track?  They seem to have more venting and perhaps a tighter fit in pictures.

He wore rain pants pulled over the top of the boots, the water just seeps through the leather. No wonder REV'it just sent him another pair of boots no questions asked, they probably knew they leaked and were going to be discontinued Thumbsdown

Had a 30mph lowside in revit jacket (brand new) and pants. Both held up very well. Mesh on the pants was ripped up, but no damage to jacket besides some rash on the shoulder.

Sheesh, mesh on the pants ripped up at 30mph?  Exactly why I wear leathers and carry a rainsuit (which actually happens to be a Revit! I forget the name but it is really form fitting rubbery and fits perfectly/tightly over leathers so there is no flapping).

Tar and chip , maybe ?  I've seen a guy loop a GK1 wearing a JR mesh and it got tore up but amazingly it did it's job. I've seen other crash in mesh or textile and was pleased with how they held up. Are there exceptions ? Sure. Will mesh always protect you ? Nope but even Leather can't protect from everything. Leather is better no argument  Smile

I've had the Dakar / Off Track Combo since it was first available.  Please let Rev-it know they need to shorten the liner or lower the zipper in the jacket that connects the pants.  With the insulated liner you need to bunch it up to fasten the jacket to the pants.  Don't even bother  trying if the "waterproof" liner is in place.  You can't zip them together unless you want the water to collect at you r waist and find it's way in from there.

There is no way to make it work. Even if you move the zipper and shorten the liner, you will still end up with water running down in your pants. This is because you will always end up with the waterproof liner inside of the zipper. As far as thermal liner goes, the problem is solved in CAYENNE PRO jacket by creating a cutout in the liner to allow the short zipper to go through. Maybe they will update the OFF TRACK with the same feature.

Not to thread-hijack, but the ONLY thing that was dry during a 7-hour ride in the pouring rain were my feet, which were inside a pair of Oxtar Matrix 2 boots.  20,000 miles in them, never let in a drop of rain.  I bought another pair that are sitting on the shelf for when the first pair wear out.

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming

What is interesting is that it's all about the conditions. I can bet that someone has a pair of Matrix boots that are leaking and he is pissed. Another guy has leaky Sidi's and he is not happy about it. I'm glad they work for you.

I have to say the REV'IT gear looks great to me.  Two of my local dealers carry a good selection of them, and they're on my short list of replacement jackets when the time comes.  Still waiting to see the Infinity suit in the flesh though.

+1, if it ever arrives I'd order one and let everyone know how it works.  As it stands, I may have to order a 'Stich instead.  I am waiting until the 1st of the year, and then I'm placing an order, one way or the other.

I'm a recovering gear whore and luckily (or unluckily depending on how you look at it), one of my local shops carries Rev'it gear and I can't have enough of it...

Mesh jackets and pants for summer, leathers for the track, Cayenne/Ultimate for the colder months, and a newly acquired CE Level 2 back protector...

At one point I've had, or still have gear from other top end companies like Dainese, MotoPort, Teknic, Spidi, Aerostitch (still use my Roadcrafter), and I can honestly say the Rev'it gear is as great if not greater than then anything out there! My only complaints? The trin euro sizing, but that can be said for a lot of MC gear...

FWIW, tons of folks around here wear Rev'it, granted, like I said, the local shop carries their gear, and having their offices here too probably helps Thumbsup

INFINITY one piece WILL arrive this year. By the way the price will go up to $1299 the second it gets here (pre orders still get it at old retail) It received a lot of changes since the first prototype shown a couple of years ago. Good news is US market will get it before the rest of the world  Smile
