Hi all. This is my first time posting to one of these forums so here goes. I have an '03 Triumph Sprint ST and I absolutely love everything about the bike except the hot air coming through the cowling of the main fairing panels - directly onto my lower legs. I have seen, on an FJR, heat resistant spongy foam padding over the outlet, and heard about using header wrap. I'm wondering if anyone has heard of problems with these fixes or has any other ideas.

Had an 02 ST and had the same problem.  Only time it really bothered me was in traffic when it was really hot.  You might try the header wrap or getting the headers coated but I'm not sure if it will do much.  I think there was something on one of the Triumph forums about some kind of heat dam that forced the hot air down, but I think the real cure is get it out on some back roads and go fast.  Lol

I know for some other bikes the header wrap ended up not working.  People ended up taking it off.  I just wear motorcycle boots which helps a lot.  Also overpants or regular motorcycle pants which also helps.  I know some on the ST forum have created these fins that divert the air away from them.  Just a custom made thing.  You might try this.

The blackbird puts a lotta heat on my legs, esp in traffic.  Just something I hafta put up with when I wear shorts and sandals.

If you're thinking of header wrap, check the exact composition of your headers first. Otherwise you might end up with this problem:
