Custom application of 3M Solas to panniers
«

These are the BMW reflective sheeting.
First, lift off the pattern.
Apply Solas to sticky side.
Cut it out.
Remove old sticker and glue using a heat gun on low setting.
Apply new stuff.
Comparison w/ flash.
Drivers will need these at night when their headlights hit my bike's ass.
This is how I did it on the R1200ST
First, apply low tack tape.
Draw where you want the 3M to cover,
Remove and apply 3M bright side down.
Cut out.
Remove 3M backing tape and apply to panniers.
Repeat until finished.

Dood, interesting bike. Did you customize it yourself, or was it all f*cked up when you bought it?

I own a truck dealership we have used this solas stuff for years on tractor/trailers, I always try to mix a little bit of red with a lot of the white, put it on my helmets, luggage, below my license plate on the fender look like a friggin blinking neon sign......but they can see me at night.......After you get hit from the rear once your whole attitude is different about being seen. You take it seriously and this conspicuty tape is good stuff.............Kieth

And you can also use reflective sheeting behind the reflectors of top cases...
Left panel:
3M High Intensity Grade Prismatic Reflective Sheeting (White 3930).
Center and right panel:
stock GiVi white vinyl tape.
The end product...
Cost? next to nothing and no wiring hassles.

This may be a dumb question, but where do you get 3M High Intensity Grade Prismatic Reflective Sheeting (White 3930)?
Thanks

I got it from a company that rents roadside pylons to construction companies. They also make road signs, etc.
You can use 3M SOLAS that you can get from Identi-Tape, whose URL is already listed in a post further up. The 3" wide stuff would work out well.
Look up any safety supply store in the Yellow Pages and ask if they carry any 3M brand reflective products.
