I have been into RC for a long time and still cannot pass up a deal. Lucked in to an E-Maxx yesterday for $120. Granted it is not the new 16.6V version, but it looks to be very lightly used and runs well. Problem is that if I get anything else I may have to (GASP!!) clean or rearrange the toy shelf! At least teh plane and boat reside in a different part of the garage!!!!

Heh,
I just bought one of these:
Used to hang out and fly RC airplanes as a kid, and now getting back into is as I'm reclassing to a UAV operator/maintainer in the Nat. Guard.
One thing that has stuck me is just how much cheaper and smaller they have gotten. Used to be that you had to spend hundreds of dollars and hundreds of hours building a airframe from scratch and engines and electronics were even more expensive. Now these "toy" airplanes are much cheaper and much more capable. Yeah technology and cheap chinese manufacturing!

I used to do this but the bike riding thing took over completely. Maybe when I can't ride anymore I'll do it again.

For a while, I was racing 1/8 scale road race cars, on carpet. The thing I discovered is that I have poor hand-eye coordination. After a while, I gave up because I didn't get better at it. Now I build model Navy fighter planes.

My big hobby right now is bicycles and I specifically have a thing for road bikes (what most would call 10 speeds) from the 1970's and 1980's. I just like the looks of lugged steel frames and forks.
The other day I was in a bike shop just about set to get serious over a carbon fiber Trek that by any measure of performance would be a better bike than any old bike. Then a kid came in and picked up his bike from the mechanic. It was a 1980's Trek steel frame/fork set up with modern components. Suddenly the carbon fiber wonder bike didn't look so wonderful; When I buy something with 2 wheels I need to be able to spend an evening beer in hand just
looking
at it.
So today I just won this on ebay: 1986 Specialized Allez that looks like it's all there and once it's here I ride and modify till I have what I want.
Just what I need with a 1 bedroom, 1 car garage condo; 1 car, 2 motorcyles, and now 3 bicycles!

Congrats on the reclass! My plane is a basic electric -

- I did, however swap out the electric with a three channel set up to provide elevator function as flying it using throttle to climb and dive was a pain in the back side.

I have some trains (N scale) that reside in storage boxes in my garage. Every once in a while I think about building a layout, but.......... I think eventually I may build an underbed type thing that I can slip into the attic (accessed via the room over teh garage) and just pull it out when I feel like running. No good place for a permanent layout.

Rex, If only!!!!! A long time ago I took 4 years of machine shop in high school and would love to have a few metal working tools to compliment my wood working gear. Sadly, until such time as I can afford to move to a different location where I can put up a proper work shop the room intensive toys will have to wait. Nice milling maching. What are making at the moment?

Nothing at the moment. Been having too much fun abusing my Tiger 1050! I do have a couple of "winter project" items in mind for the Tiger, though.
Before I got out of Kart racing, a year or so ago, I had a pretty fun side biz making custom bumpers and nerfs for Karts.
I'm in the middle of repairing my '47 Atlas 10 X 30 lathe, due to an operator error ( I don't like to use the word "crash".................. it has such a negative connotation).

I was a pattern maker/machinist for about 9 years, I miss not having mills and lathes around to build things. Someday I will buy a mill for the garage.

My current "life plan" ... 1) become financially independent, 2) restore a very old house by hand myself while managing whichever one of my paths to financial independence bore fruit (hopefully in a place that has a very good trauma center, see 3), 3) start playing with lots of heavy duty "his hobby is WHAT?" kind of toys.

...My big hobby right now is bicycles...
Nice score on the Allez.
I looked hard at one back in the day, but chose an '85 Basso Gap (Columbus SL/SP), Campagnolo Super Record. Still have it, for display only.
I also have a '71 Gitane Tandem (Shimano running gear, Mafac cantilever brakes w/original drum brake on the back wheel), and a late '80s Masi Team 3V (Campy Super) that I just recently retired to "coffee ride" status.
My pet project is an early '60s Torpado with chrome lugs and chainstay. It was saved from a yard sale in Calgary, liberated for
$5
complete with early Campy GS bits and in remarkable condition. When you factor in the Kona NuNu mountain bike, the Johnny G. spin bike, and the new Colnago C50, I'm pretty much full up here.
I've been advised that the next bike I bring home will be stored on my side of the bed...

) but don't get to do that anywhere near as often as I like.i am learning tons with the aircraft thing ,some of the stuff that was done in the past to build airplanes is amazing and very intresting as a look into history
