Woohoo!

Discuss.

I guess it's time to start looking for accommodations. Who wants to be the point person? Chances of me going are pretty small - basically, I'll only know after the beginning of May.

I'll be happy to do the advance planning, but I probably won't be there this year.  Sad

Damn typos.

Having never before attended a STNNational before, what sort of debauchery should I expect? And where is Gunnison?

Colorado, I fixed the thread title.

Most people arrive on Tuesday, stand around and talk about stuff.  Then we have a group dinner Tuesday night.  People make plans for the rides on Wednesday.

Wednesday morning most people go riding, some in groups, some solo.  Wednesday night people come back and stand around and talk more.  There's no planned group dinner, but people will go off in small groups to various local eateries.  Then they come back and talk some more, late into the night.  Be sure to talk loudly near DreadheadV2.0's window when he's trying to sleep.

Thursday morning most people leave.

I've noted the date in my calendar and when the "official" hotel is selected I'll make a reservation.

Then it is just a matter of waiting to see if I can actually make it there.  Which is going to depend on the weather in Illinois during April and May.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed, because this is the perfect excuse to get out to the Rockies on a motorcycle.

So people can take the whole week off (9 days with the weekends) and get to the National and back.  This way you can take advantage of 2 weekends instead of just 1.

I camped 3 nights last summer at the Tall Texan in Gunnison.  It's a nice place.  Showers, coin laundry, and a few cabins.  Mostly retired people in RVs so things are pretty quiet.  Open pavillion next to the bathrooms/showers.
It might not be a good match if you're really wanting to stay up all night and make noise.

Do ride CO92 N from Blue Mesa Reservoir to Crawford.  Please be careful-it's a long drop if you mess up.  The Black Canyon is worth the trip and admission fee.  CO149 over Slumgullion Pass with stops at Clear Creek Falls and Windy Point.

I remember seeing some signs near Blue Mesa Res for cheap cabins-$40 or so.  I haven't been able to find them on the internet.

Usually around 70 attendees, loosely organized around the nightly barbecue/campfire/alcohol binge. We usually pressure some "sponsors" to donate swag to be given away too.

It usually looks something like this
