Hi everyone,

For those Iron Butters out there who haven't heard, a video documentary of the 2007 Iron Butt Rally was released last week. It's called 'Hard Miles' and can be ordered at the following link....

http://www.apgvideo.com/ironbutt07/

I ordered mine late last week and received it today. I then dropped everything and watched it immediately.

For the endurance-riding obsessed this is a MUST SEE. Yes- it's $50, but that's really not too bad for an independent documentary IMO. Besides, it's nothing compared to how much we spend on our bikes. The interviews are excellent and it really gives you a sense of what it's like to do a major rally. There are also lots of useful tips included and Mike Kneebone himself does a fantastic job explaining the history of the rally and what it takes to finish/win.

If you've ever thought about doing a distance rally (or even dreamed about it), I'd recommend this one highly. I think it'll help my wife understand why I have the LD riding 'disease'.

+1

I pre-ordered my copy earlier this year in Tulsa, but was still waiting at the mailbox for this thing to get dropped off. It doesn't disappoint. Even if you saw the preview in Tulsa, the final copy still has plenty to keep you going.

I attended the premier down in Santa Ana and picked up my copy. I grumbled a little about the pricetag, but didn't hesitate a bit in buying it. It's a great production, with some truly great extra footage.

I too was a little apprehensive on the price, but after watching it, it well well worth it. The  26 min. IBA history lesson extra feature with Kneebone alone was worth the price of admission ($50)

Received it in WI two days after ordering.

Yeah, Mike's narrative is awesome. He talked about a lot of things I've always wanted to know.

Lots to like. I especially enjoyed seeing the rally from a rallymaster's point of view.  Its got me fired up to do more rallies this year.

It's interesting the check out the rider introductions in the DVD extras and see how many IBR riders are over 60 years old. That really goes to show it's mainly a mental game, and not necessarily a physical one.

Thanks for the post - I had no idea this was available.  I am psyched to see how many of the people featured I know.  I bet there will be at least a few I recognize - or their bikes at any rate.

Happy b-day to me.  Bigok

It was interesting to watch the interviews and slice and dice the demographic by age, motorcycle choice, profession, goals, etc.  And one also realizes that a #2 clipper blade is the haircut de rigeur for riders. Wink

Also HUGELY informative was Kneebone's interview as the other DVD extra.  He talks 40 minutes about the evolution of the IBR since 1984.  Even though I thought I had a clue of the nature of the original...I was totally off.  And listening to that history I actually think I have a better context of how it is what it is....and will evolve in the future.

Dollars don't hurt either.  That's an expensive undertaking.
