There's no limit to this poll, but please vote early - this is to give me an idea of how many rooms we'll need.

For me it depends on the time of year it is. If its early then no. And if its in Colorado, you don't want it early because it will snow. I got some commitments in June so I am hoping for August which is the best time IMHO for Colorado

We're working on the food plans now. When we have that settled, we'll get the registration opened.

Anyone have special requests/thoughts/demands for the dinner?

Does anyone NOT like the idea of BBQ being questioned? Surely BBQ is sacrosanct!?  Crazy

I've been putting pennies to one side for the possibility of coming along for this little shindig, the way things are going it might actually work out cheaper for me to spend a week or so in the US than here in the UK! Wink

When are you going to start taking "official" bookings do you think? In other words, when do I have to make a decision?

I would call and reserve your room right away. You'd be able to cancel or transfer it if you need to. Food should be sorted out in a few weeks.

We also need to do tshirts, which I'm sure we'll set up like last year with Desteenation and have everyone order their own.

Hey, to everyone who has been to Gunnison for a past meet or has just been in the area any time in their life, are there interesting things to do for people who are not motorcycle enthusiasts?

A lingering thought of mine is to pile me and my fam into the family people mover, hang a little bike (that I don't own yet) off a motorcycle carrier, and drive out to Gunnison for the meet. After a day or 2 in the area, we were talking about continuing west to the Grand Canyon, and try to hit some other interesting stuff on the way back. Maybe camp out a few nights along the trip. My wife and daughter have zero interest in motorcycles, so they would need something to keep them occupied for a day while I rode around with y'all.  Shoot, even if they don't come, riding from Iowa to Colorado is so incredibly boring that I would still be tempted to take the bike via the family people hauler.

My SO and I will be heading to northern Utah, moving down to the Utah/Arizona border around that time.  If timing is right, we may be there on the return trip.  We will see how it goes.  If it looks good, I will book a room closer to the date.  Fingers are crossed.

Well... I've never actually been to a moto-meet in Gunnison, but I lived there for 25 years... does that count?

What kind of stuff does your family like doing? If you're thinking an amusement park, not so much. If they like camping, hiking, fishing, biking, rock climbing, 4-wheeling, or pretty much anything in the out of doors, you're set. Crested Butte is also within striking range of Gunnison if the wife want's to hit the touristy shoppy-shops. PM me with stuff they like, and I'll point you in the right direction.

Phoenix,

The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is right there--quite scenic, some good hikes. Lake City is about an hour away--historic, nice shops, with access to the most incredible alpine plateau in CO. In Lake City you can rent a jeep and drive into the National Forest up to almost 13,000 ft. with many 14ers around you. Very pretty. If they are not the hiking type, they can ride a gondola up to a mountain top at Monarch Pass (also about an hour away)--get a nice view of the San Juan Mts. Fishing, especially in the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River, is also great.

A scenic loop for the ambitious:

Gunnison to South Fork via rt. 149, South Fork to Durango via rt. 160, Durango to Montrose via rt. 550, back to Gunnison on rt. 50. Total miles = about 400, time depends on you and on how heavy the tourista traffic is, but 7 hours would be reasonable. The loop takes you over several high passes, including a few over 11,000 ft. (Slumgullion, Wolf Creek, & Red Mountain). It also takes you through several historic towns such as Laker City, Creede & Silverton.

The ride to Crested Butte is nice, as is the short loop from Gunnison to Salida via rt. 114 & back to Gunnison via rt. 50 over Monarch Pass.

This has been one of my favorite areas to ride, camp, and hike since the early 70's. Sorry to get carried away with suggestions so far in advance of the meet,

Jon

If I can make it, I'd prefer getting/sharing a room over camping, but since I'll have my gear, camping is always an option.

Thanks but I would rather think of that as installing upgrades.

My wife and I plan to be there for our STN first national. We had planned to take a trip to CO and stay in Gunnison during the same week as the national. We rode our bikes out to Idaho from NC a couple of years ago and stayed at a motel (the Western Motel- across the street from the Gunnison Inn) and we said then we must return to the area for a few days instead of just passing through.

Looking forward to being there.

I'm in. Made a reservation at the G'Inn a few weeks ago. Is it time to go yet?

I'm out.  I just bought a house, closing at the end of May.  There's no way I'm getting away in June.

I have made my reservations, so I'm planning to make it.  I should arrive at the Gunnison Inn Tuesday evening and head for home on Friday morning.

Had to give up a ride to Canada, so I have booked a room at the G. Inn.  Looking forward to meeting some new friends and seeing some new places.

Hi guy’s & gal’s,

I’m new to the group and live north of Denver.  The southwestern part of Colorado is great.  I have rode atv’s in this area but not a road bike.  I think I will join you all if it’s ok.

Welcome to the site. I live in Castle Rock and work in Centennial.

I should be there unless work interferes. I asked for the time but....
