Late April would be my preference.   May is  already filled up for me.

I love Silver City.

Which time would give us the best chance of good weather?
I have no knowledge of the area, perhaps some of our AZ or NM members who do could give us some input.

Paging Gila Monster...... ect.

Mid to late April or early May both work, with May about 5 degrees warmer.  Look for highs of 70 in April and lows in the low 40s.  Silver City is at about 6,000 feet and many of the rides are significantly higher elevation with higher temperature swings.  Rain that time of year is almost non-existant.  The best run is Silver City to Clifton to Alpine back to Silver City (307 miles of twisties and sweepers).  It includes 191 (Devil's Highway).  See attached map.  I'll do others as we get closer.

Ride 2 - 177 miles.  Silver City to Hillsboro on 152, back to Gila Cliff dwellings on 152 & 35, back to Silver City on 35 & 15.  BTW, don't miss 152 on the way in and out if you are coming from the east.

Great riding around Silver City.  You won't be disappointed.  It's a really nice town and a wonderful riding destination.

As someone suggested, the issue won't be weather in Silver City.  But most of the great roads are in the Black Mountains to the east and the White Mountains to the west.  Check average temps in Alpine, Az and Kingston, NM. for mountain temps.

Come join us.  Maybe I should take a look at Region 3 goings on as I spend a bunch of time riding western CO and southern Utah.  Give me a shout if there's something interesting.

There are not to many in R3. Our R3 meet last year was 5 of us for a day. I was fun but its hard to get everyone together here.

Even being the anti-social type that I am, I think I'll be up for this.  The NM-AZ border rules for rides.

Mine as well. It's not uncommon for it to break 100 degs in late April in Phoenix so I'd rather do it then than May.

If the dates work out, I might pop on over from Region 1.  I love the Devil's Highway.

For you 'left-coasters,' the GilaMonster motel in Tucson is always open as a stopover on the way over and/or on the way back.  I have plenty of garage space, couches, keg beer, and of course, cactus.  I am 400-500 miles from various locales in SoCal, and three hours to Silver City.  Special discounts from the free cost are available to K riders.  Smile
