For you 'left-coasters,' the GilaMonster motel in Tucson is always open as a stopover on the way over and/or on the way back.  I have plenty of garage space, couches, keg beer, and of course, cactus.  I am 400-500 miles from various locales in SoCal, and three hours to Silver City.  Special discounts from the free cost are available to K riders.  Smile

That is a generous offer- I may take you up on that!

Mid to late April or early May both work, with May about 5 degrees warmer.  Look for highs of 70 in April and lows in the low 40s.  Silver City is at about 6,000 feet and many of the rides are significantly higher elevation with higher temperature swings.  Rain that time of year is almost non-existant.  The best run is Silver City to Clifton to Alpine back to Silver City (307 miles of twisties and sweepers).  It includes 191 (Devil's Highway).  See attached map.  I'll do others as we get closer.

Gila,

How do we stitch both "Ride 1" and "Ride 2" together?  500 miles is just about the right distance for a day ride...

Have you ridden the 191? Considering the roads I think the rides would be good distance.  No need to rush.

No rush at all really.

Just kinda normal...

PS:  I've ridden 191 - nice road.  Could use another 300 miles of it though.

BMW-K and miles,

What the heck are you guys doing over here in the Region 2 subforum??

I still need to get 191 on my resume.

You guys really know how to tempt someone.

I will watch this thread and hope I can fit it in.

If the dates work out, I might pop on over from Region 1.  I love the Devil's Highway.

I'm thinking the same thing. I'm looking forward to seeing how the dates play out....

OTOH, we did manage to give some of our hard earned cash to the local LEO's so maybe this should be held in AZ instead  Lol

Ok, Robert gave me the heads up on this one so I'm following this closely as well.  AZ 191 is a nice little piece of road.  Miles, Robert, 1moreroad and myself took a quick 1000 + mile trip out from CA just to hit 191 two years ago.

Region 2 folks, hope you don't mind us Region 1 folks joining you.  Some of us on the left coast have really put down some miles over the past few years and we are running out of new roads to discover.

It's just a quick pop over...

It is just a quick pop over to AZ and then another quick pop over to NM.  It's Only about 650 miles or so to Silver City from SoCal.  Add a few more miles to cover some good roads in between and it's still less than 1K.  That should make for a nice day ride to get out there.

We should do this.
