The 690 enduro and 950 super enduro. I was perusing the KTM website and they caught my eye. The 950 seems like it would be a F800GS beater for sure. Are these new models this year? I`m VERY intrigued...

Figure out how far you want to ride before refueling.
690 holds approx. 14.5 liters / 2.5 liters reserve (3.83 / 0.66 gal).
950SE holds approx. 12 liters (3.17 gal) / 2.5 liters reserve (0.66 gal). There's an after-market tank available which holds 30 litres or 7.9GAL
There's leftover '07 & '08 950SEs around the country so you can get them at a discount. The 690 is a new model so probably no discount and it will be a while until the after-market creates a long-range tank.
The engine on the 950SE is intoxicating. AMHIKT.
EDIT: I rode both the 950SE and F800GS before buying the former. The BMW is available with ABS, heated grips, on-board computer... very much a mid-size adventure bike. The 950SE is a 100HP dirt bike: no ABS, no heated grips, no handguards, no windscreen. You can only add some of that afterwards and some of it is only available from the after-market. The engine pulls much harder than the F800GS.
The 950SE has been around for a few years.
