I'm planning out my route to this big event. I'm taking a slightly southern route so that my friends and I can cross the Suzie Q via the Millersberg Ferry. The oldest surviving paddle boat ferry on the Susquehanna river.

This was from an over niter into southern West Virginia a few years back

I just added it to my planned route back from the 'Dacks this year.  Thanks.

It doesn't run everyday but there's a bridge crossing about 10 minutes south just in case. My wife and I tried to take it last year at the end of a Lancaster weekend. There was a sign saying that due to the low water conditions it wasn't running.

It's powered by a small diesel motor and may fit three cars but at least a dozen bikes. There were just three of us on this trip. No lines, just rode right on and off we went crabbing our way to the western shore about a foot off the water.

Same experience as there were no lines and worth the price of admission.

I think it was Rider.  One of their 35 roads to ride -- an article for their 35th anniversary.

Cool that you guys are riding it.  I'm looking forward to the tale.

I stand corrected.  Sure beats crossing at Conowingo.

And here's my shot from Hyner Run State Park, from the 2005 Penna Guzzi Rally (a great rally that, sadly, is no more):

I'd like to get a GPS nav point for that spot if you have one. I saw that photo earlier in the thread and have to get my A$$ up there

Sounds like a great opportunity for me to get to meet a few of the locals here on the board. Not that I'll be looking foreword to chowing down on a couple dozen wings or anything  Bigsmile

One of the REG 6 group meets up at the Rockaway mall up on rte 80.

Are you interested in trying to catch the Millersburg Ferry? I have some routes out that way already if you don't mind some company.

It's hard to believe it's time for another Burger Run.  I'll be heading out the Friday morning before from Hyde Park, NY.  I am planning a slab ride to Scranton, an early 11:00 AM lunch, followed by a nice 4 to 5 hour string of back roads down to Clearfield.  I've got a couple routes planned for Saturday, one to the south and the other to the north of the Hotel, I guess I'll flip a coin in the  morning to see which way I go.  I'm not usually one for long slab rides so I will probably leave Sunday morning and take a back roads ride home.  Not very sociable, I guess, considering the whole ride is about the meet and eat.  Anyway if anyone wants to hook up for the ride out or back or on Saturday let me know.  Once I work out the small details I will share my Mapsource files.

And this year after drooling over some of the previous years picks I am definitely taking the ride up to Hyner View SP.
