STN National Meet - OFFICIAL DATE SET - Registration Open

I am registered and have a cabin reserved for 2 nights.  I really look forward to this as it will probably be my first long distance ride, though it's not too far from Denver.  Yipee!  Something else to look forward to as we prepare to enter winter.

Area around Custer and Hill City is a fabulous area. I was up there for the Concours Owners Group 2006 National Rally. Many great roads. There is Spearfish Canyon and one nice off the beaten path route along Nemo Road. nemo Road goes from Rapid City to Lead, SD. This was a real nice road with hard any traffic and real nice twist and turns. I will be envious of everyone if I can not make it there. I can't commit now but it will be one of those "I got to go if I can fit it in my schedule" events.

Nemo road is nice, as well as Vanocker Canyon (Nemo to Sturgis) Both have relatively light (or no) traffic. Also Norris Peak rd.(Johnson siding to Nemo rd.) while only 5 miles long, offers a couple very challenging corners. There is a off camber decreasing radius downhill left hander that is great! Silver city road is also good, but you have to turn around and come back the same way. No big deal as it is only a few miles. Needles hwy, iron mt. rd., etc are all fun. I'm sure everyone will be able to find something they enjoy.

Instead of raising the registration price, EJ and I have discussed the option of members voluntarily paying more than the price listed. The left over funds will go to STN. Its just an easier way of putting money into the coffers, even though STN won't officially see it until after the Meet and everything has been paid for

Yes, June-Aug. (tourist season) is pretty busy with the Sturgis rally being a real pain. The park, Iron mt.rd. Needles, 385, 16,spearfish canyon will be busy all summer. But, Nemo, vanocker, norris peak offer nothing much to the average tourist, so it's mostly just local traffic. Other than 7-9am and 4-7pm they don't see as much traffic as other roads.

I missed the event last year but this looks like my chance to see it all anyway. depending on how much vacation time I can hoard away between terry's moonburger run and the Cog national in august

I wish I could put a 'for sure' in there, but it'll depend on whether or not I can get a job and my finances straight prior to then.  I'm positive I won't have the vacation time (except over a weekend) to do it.

The good news is that it is only a day ride up there from Omaha.  Better yet is that I can offer any travelers going past this rather flat spot on the map a warm meal and some hospitality, so don't forget to mark my place!  The Old Market is a nice place to unwind too, so I'll be happy to be your guide if I'm not able to make the meet.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

As usual I will attend although it's gonna be tough to out-do my animal sacrifice in W. Virginia this past June.  Don't worry however, I'm on the job and will let you know what's planned in plenty of time.
