So, is there a T-shirt thread or even any interest in T-shirts?

We don't have a T-shirt thread yet, but I'm sure people will be interested, especially if someone comes up with a cool design.
I would be inclined to use DesTeeNation again. Solves all the logistics hassles. Just order online once the design and price are set and they show up at your door.

How about a motorcycle jumping off the Olympic ski jump at Lake Placid!

How about a motorcycle jumping off the Olympic ski jump at Lake Placid! Even on skis that would be scary.

If you go to Lake Placid, the Olympic ski jumps are well worth your time. You can see three motorcycles way down in the parking lot, about 11 o'clock position. At the end of the ramp you can see that green line, which is the top of the hill...the landing spot is over that hill, you can't see it from the jump. It's freaking sick. One of my buddies said it best, "They went to the top of a big hill and then built a tower on top of it."

If your lucky you can watch them practise the free style acrobatics skiing in the summer, before you ask they set up a minnie slope at the bottom of the jump landing area using artificial turf and they jump into a pool. I'm penciling this date in, I'm only a couple of hours north of here. IMHO best riding routes are SW from Lake Placid cross Lake Champlain, then West (17 ) into Vermont to the White Mountains, Loop North and West back through Stow, across the top of the Lake and back down to Lake Placid. A really nice 6 to 7 hr loop. Chris

It appears BugR was channelling my thoughts exactly.
OK, I'm in. Ski season is almost over, which means I'm slowly coming back into the fold of my warm-weather addiction forum.

Anyone participating who actually had an association with the Olympics? I know I am dating myself, but I was an interpreter for the Soviet Union (Russian) teams in 1980. I was at "THE" hockey game (unfortunately I am not a fan, so someone would have enjoyed it much more than me). Would like to know if anyone else participated back then. I would love to return to see the town and the venues. Maybe me and my fiance can journey up there, NY is beautiful that time of year!

I'll bet that cuts down on the price of dinner and a movie.

I fax'd the contract back to the Econo Lodge and put the deposit down on the rooms. I talked to the manager (Ron) and he said to be sure to make your reservations by calling his extension (x300) at the hotel. The national reservation line doesn't know anything about our agreement.
Bottom Line: call (518) 523-2817 x300 to reserve your room. The group name is "Sport-Touring.Net"
I know Garry said it before, but if you call, dial ext 300 and talk to Ron or Dianne. Do not press 4 to make a reservation, like I did because it takes you to the national desk and they don't know about the group rate.
