Awesome! I booked at a B&B just down the road from the hotel. I haven't been on this site for a long while and may be just the thing to get myself reacquainted. The last ESTN I was at was the one in Sparta, NC. This one will be an easier trip since I live only 3.5 hours south of Lake Placid. And my GF will be along also as she feels this is a good getaway weekend.

In case anyone else would like to see if they have any rooms left.....

Hi; Guys.  Just joined the forum.  Live in CT.  Just got back fron a 950 mile upstate NY tour that included a day spent in the Adirondacks. I was kind of surprised that the road weren't as tight as I imagined they would be.  I hope you guys have a great time.  Here are a few pics I took from the side of the road.   I am the not as old guy with the VFR.  http://webpages.charter.net/rwortman2/NY%20Tour%202009/

A bit of levity.  Apparently there has been some filming of a Star Trek piece.  They have established the Fort has a Klingon home base.

I'm seeing these purple things all along the highways up here.  Do you have them in your area?  Are they (a) bordellos for squirrels? (b) NY state's new speed detection system? (c) An ecologic disaster?

This morning I plotted out my routes to and from the hotel.  And of course a few routes that I want to explore while I'm up there.  One of the routes "looks like" a great off road exploration, I say it "looks like" because I just put it together using the Mapsource software and I haven't seen it yet, but, yes I'm psyched.  The Dak's area is great and I've checked out some of what I can ride to in a day trip from the Hyde Park, NY area but that is only the south eastern part of the Park and there is so much more.  I have been wanting to plant myself somewhere up north for a long time now so I could do some exploring.  And now to add the EST.N Meet into the trip only makes it a sweeter.

My wife doesn't ride with me any more (which I am sure has nothing to do with my riding) but she is planning to drive up for Fri and Sat nights just to see the sights.  We are counting down the days.

Is there a two night minimum for the hotel??? I just called and spoke to someone (not The Man) and she thought that there was a two-night min. on the hotel stay. He's supposed to call me back tomorrow to confirm, but I thought I'd toss this out there and see if anyone had a firm answer.

There might be a two-night minimum to qualify for our ST.N rate, which is $4 less per night than their standard rate.  I would imagine you could just pay the $4 higher price (and book as a regular person) if you only need one night.

Drop a PM to Garry -- he'll know for sure.

Chas, that festival looks interesting. Too bad the website doesn't post a schedule of the events. It sounds like a family/kids event but if I knew when the blues band was playing it might be worth a look with a generous helping of Barbecue on the side. Drool Speaking of Q, I wonder if there's any close by we could get delivered to the parking lot/ hotel after riding?  I was in upstate NY last year and they seem to have a lot of roadside BBQ stands.   Ok, I just looked on the internet for Q and didn't find anything promising nearby. While on Tripadvisor, I found a link and reviews for the Lake Placid Brew Pub Garry mentioned earlier. It looks very promising. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g48023-d1011891-Reviews-Lake_Placid_Pub_Brewery-Lake_Placid_New_York.html

The "Tail of The Pup" is the local BBQ everyone refers to.  There is a review on your Trip Advisor.  I think the jury is still out on having anything at the hotel.  But for the right $$ anything can be done.

Single room reserved.   Bigok

Just to note - I left two messages at extension 300 and never heard back, so I called the main number and spoke with the reservation desk.  They were able to get me the STN rate and send the e-mail confirmation.

I will be riding up Friday, leaving early from Ephrata, PA, and picking up Marcster along the way.  I hope you're ready for a big ride, Marcster.   Bigsmile

Redfox and I plan to be leaving Riviere-du-Loup the 11th after (knock wood) completing our Trans-Lab jaunt.  Maybe we'll make Lake Placid our stopping point.
