Maybe someone from the New York group could organize a meeting spot out there.

I'll be back in Brooklyn by then, but unfortunately we're scheduled to start mining April 22nd and not a single day off for 40-50 days...

Indeed, you'll get tired too fast. I won't mind helping you out and taking one.

I'm picking up a '99 VFR to park next to my rebuilt Bandit1216.  Can I officially be in the STN elite club?

Jeff, you are the elite.  You were at the inaugural run back in '05...not many of those folks are still active on ST.N

Sweet!  I'm easy to find - I'm on the far right.

Here's the "new" steed, a 1999 VFR800.  I put about 250 miles on it today.  I'm a little beat-up (I haven't ridden this much since last September when the Bandit started acting funny), but I love the Viffer!  It's so effortless to ride, which is what I kinda wanted in a sport-touring bike, so I don't get drained by having to pay a lot of attention to it.  The Bandit can get squirrelly in the twisties if I don't stay on top of it, and it's kinda top-heavy (and just downright heavy) for a sportbike.  I just need some hard luggage before my buddy Todd (on his '94 BMW K75) and I tour the USA next year.

Same jacket as in the pic above, btw.

Looks like I might miss this trip if my work trip gets extended two weeks like they're planning now.  I am supposed to be gone April 5-25, but they're talking another 2 weeks.  No biggie - that's an extra 4 hours of overtime Mon-Fri and 25 hours of overtime on the weekends, so I'm not complaining.  More OT = more VFR goodies and more long weekends on the road!  If I'm back in time, though, I'll be there!

VFR's work great for cross-country trips:

My VFR in SF in 2007; the hardbags were indispensable.  Not sure if they are available for the pre-02's.

Trust me, the idea did pop up, and not just from me.  But, we're going to Idaho where it's still like 45 degrees during the day.  On top of that, I'll be working 12.5-hour shifts every night with no days off once we get there, so there'd be no time to ride out there anyway.  Besides, a buddy and I will probably pass through there late next year when we do our 4-week loop of the USA.
