Dinner planning still needed for national

We still need planning for a dinner,I have been getting called into work  (Regular job) for a few hours ,here and there at random besides working part time ,and it does not lend itself to having a good amount of time to properly search. Can anyone help or plan the dinner?

I work about 60 hours/week but since I live here I can get it done over the next month or so.

What do you know about the Quarter circle ( 323 E Tomichi ave, 970 641 0542 )? Can it handel a group of ...40 to 50 people,is the food any good? Its like 30 feet from the motels and the web reviews are good.Need real world info,and I need to find out if they want to do a group,figuring tuesday 6/17 for dinner.

I haven't eaten there in a couple of years, I'll try to go sometime in the next week or two.

The food is basic American- sandwiches, burgers, chicken fried stake, etc. I always thought it was pretty good.

They could hold 50 people I am pretty sure, though that would fill it more or less.

I'll try to go by in the next couple of days and get a paper menu, and I'll ask if they are interested.

OK, I just called in a flavor from one of my existing relatives (still in Gunnison).

We would have to book pretty much the whole place for a few hours. But the atmosphere, the food, the beers, the staff, it pretty much has exactly what ST.N is looking for. The business was 15years old when I first went there 35 years ago, and it hasn't changed significantly in that time (other than adding room for more patrons).

As well, another plus, my own cousin is the day shift manager. And could probably be talked into taking care of us all in a family way.

My cousin is checking on max capacity and I should know in a day or so. But I'm putting it out there, Marios is where the locals eat. And the tourists. And the college kids. And the alumni. People that leave Gunnison come back to visit and Marios is where they go to eat. It's also small enough to keep the ST.N people connected, not spread out all over a restaurant. My 2cents.

Unfortunately no. Beer and wine only, but there is a sports bar (Timbers) directly across the street that would be a natural next step after a good dinner.

I will drop by Marios, the Quarter Circle and The Gunnisack (my favorite) in the next couple of days and get general info.

I wonder if any restaurant in the Gunny area is going to want to be reserved for a couple of hours on June 16.

Also, if they are willing they will want a hefty deposit to be sure they don't lose their shirts. Any plans for collecting a deposit?

We will do the usual registration for dinner,it will depend on how quick they need a deposit,doing this also give  a firm headcount for dinner.I have a question what time should we set for dinner? something starting at 5:30 or 6:00 PM?

How/what is the Gunnisack? It opened after I left, and I'm still trying to figure out where exactly it is... Main street up from the W-Cafe? Or on the other side of the street? I'm trying to figure out which space it took up (there used to be a hoity-toity place on the east sid eof the 100 block of Main right by Ellis Jewelry... oh crap, Ellis has been closed for 10+ years... that won't do as a frame of reference...).

In the summer restaurants are pretty full during primetime 5:30 to 7:30 due to tourists, even on Tuesdays I think. But I'll ask.

LeaninTree - the Gunnisack opened 5 years ago, next to what used to be Ellis Jewelry. They are closed Tuesday night but might be willing to open for a 50-60 people guaranteed crowd and their food is very good and reasonably price, IMO.

I'm leaving work early today to drop by the various restaurants.

Gunnisack - OUT - they would have to close the restaurant for that size a crowd and they're not willing to do that

Marios - probably OUT - same issue, I will talk to the owners on Friday to confirm

QuarterCircle - was closed this afternoon, I'll drop by there Thur during the lunch time

Palisades - IN - they can accommodate that crowd easily in one room and have experience doing it - the food is pretty good there, prices are reasonable (dinner + 1 beer for $15-$25), parking is easy and somewhat contained (bikes are NOT quite so open to casual idiots in cars), selection is good. Burgers, some pasta and seafood, sandwiches, mixed drinks at the bar, beer, ... lots of advantages and my favorite since the Gunnisack is out. LOW DEPOSIT or maybe none. I talked with the manager/bartender and he seem cool and competent.

One other possibility - Trough Restaurant - 1 miles W of Gunnison, steak, prime rib, some seafood and wild game, excellent salads, very good to excellent food, somewhat contained parking, HOWEVER cost of dinner + 1 beer would be $22.5 to $35 or so. If there is interest I will go see them. What do you think?
