Guess what I found?

I'm planning to ride "The Rock" this summer and I've been looking for a Wee Strom for a little while. The idea was to go there with something with which I could go down a rough or dirt road without hesitation while stiil being comfortable getting there and back. I considered a KLR but I thought that a Wee Strom would be more comfortable for my old body.
To make a long story short, I went over to a local bike shop last Saturday and guess what? They had just received a farkled up to death 07 as a trade in on a new BWW F800GS. I could not believe my eyes when I saw it.
The following pictures were taken today after I took delivery of it.
Here's what's on it starting from the top:
1. Givi screen,
2. MadStad adjustable windshield mount,
3. Suzuki heated grips,
4. Suzuki hand guards,
5. Suzuki tank cover,
6. Suzuki hard bags, (Side and Top)
7. Engine guards that look like GIVIs but I don't know for sure,
8. Big friggin skid plate, (Don't know who the manufacturer is)
9. Suzuki centre stand.
The price was right even if it needs new tires and the chain looks like it had better days.
The big ST is not going anywhere. I'm keeping it.

Hi Léon...and omigosh!!! You got a Wee!!!
That's awesome...and what a farkled bike you found! It's exactly like mine! (Same year and everything.) Congratulations—you're going to love it!
And yes, the Wee will definitely be more comfortable for your old body than a KLR.
I've thought about adding the crash bars and skid plate to my Wee...but of course that would be silly since I already have the "armored-to-the-teeth" KLR! So how many miles are on it? Looks like the tires are the OEM Trailwings...I just put a pair of Dunlop D-607s on mine, and I'm loving them. They were a lot cheaper than the Metzler Tourances, and feel every bit as good. If you can stand the factory seat, great—I couldn't! I had to get the Corbin Canyon for mine, and it's fantastic.
So when are you planning to ride The Rock? Maybe I can manage to take a week off and join you! (I still want to see the east side of the province...)

Scott
My plans are not carved in stone yet but right now I can say that I'll probably ride "The Rock" (Newfoundland) in the July-August timeframe. With the heated grips June is a possibility but September is out because Sue and I are taking two weeks together and I'm hoping to get her to agree to go to ESTN (Lake Placid) on the ST. I'm still doing research to see what is the optimal time to go.
I'm planning to start on the East side of the Island via the Argentia Ferry and from there make my way back to the Western side. I'll probably stay 4-5 days on the East side. I'm looking at possibly staying at Memorial University in St. John's. Hitting St. John's during the Jazz & Blues Festival would be nice. After that I don't know.
On the West side I want to the roads you did on your trip including "L'Anse Aux Meadows" plus the "Western Brook Pond" in Gros Morne National Park.
I may exit the Island on the "St. Barbe - Blanc-Sablon" ferry and get on the supply ship "Relais Nordik". Then I would hit the Québec North Shore and make my way back through Gaspésie. http://www.relaisnordik.com/en/home/244.cfm The latter part is an option not carved in stone yet. If I do that I'll spend less time on "The Rock" and if not, I'll spend more time on "The Rock". Altogether I plan to spend about 2 weeks on the road.
As you know Scott, "The Rock" is bigger than it looks.
I will probably firm up the plans shortly as I have to reserve the Argentia Ferry.
It would be nice if you (Scott) or anyone could join me for this. I know other STNers have expressed interest in "The Rock" before.
BTW Scott, thanks for the tip on the tires as I don't dare to start a "Tire thread".

I mustn't be wearing the right cologne because nothing like that ever follows me home
Looks like you're gonna have a great trip.
One of the places I'd LOVE to get to (on a bike preferably, but doesn't matter so long as I see it before I croak) is Gros Morne National Park. Heard so many great things about the place and hiking in the park

Congrats Leon! That's a good looking Strom (and I mean good looking in relative terms.
).
Just be sure to tie your shoe laces before going on a ride.

I think he needs a wife beater T shirt and one of those little vests!
Very nice bike Leon. You will have to give us your thoughts of riding it compared to the ST.

We haven't met, Leon, but I had to say that's a nice looking machine (despite some other opinions!).
I am an hour and a half east of you in the SJ area, perhaps we can meet some day.

Hi Chris!
I would tag along but my vacation bank wouldn't allow it right now, not to mention my wallet.
