In prepping my FZ1 for delivery (sold) I started it up in the cold to make sure all was well, that the battery was ok, etc.  Fired it up and let it run until VERY hot.

Did the same thing with my Tuono and melted the cord on the battery tender - it was not completely clear of the exhaust.  That sucks.  But it was good to listen to my baby roar.  Going to take a subzero ride in the next few days I think.

Rode mine to work at O-dark thirty, mid thirties and a thin fog, roads slightly damp. Supposed to rain this afternoon, pretty much an average winter commute

I don't enjoy riding in the cold - since I don't have electric gear, I'd rather be in a car with heat.

But hey man, you want to freeze your ass off in exchange for a ride, go for it, toughguy.   Rolleyes

Yikes, Dan...  That was a little harsh. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Non-Smiling/nervous.gif

I don't have electric gear either and I really enjoy riding when it's in the 30s (for up to an hour at a time).  Thermals, quilted liners, and winter gloves...

The cold air on my face under the visor really makes me feel alive! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Happy/Big-Thumbs-Up.gif

I'm with Marcster on this.  And I thought youse guys knew each other from the first response.  Wow!

My ride to work is 30 minutes.  Quilted liners in my gear.  Winter gloves and a balaclava.  But that little bit of wind that sneaks up into the helmet definitely wakes me up.

Hopefully mine will come out of the shed at work and get ridden home.  First time it's ever been stranded by snow!

.Last month was the first in a long time when I didn't ride at all. It has been very cold and the snow wouldn't melt. Yesterday, I finally got out and had a good time.  Thumbsup Went to the next town, Blanding, on an errand and the out on the Navajo res. It was clear and you could see forever, most of the time. Mountains, mesas and buttes off in the distance. There is almost no traffic anywhere, except in town and even then it's pretty light.

Installed an MRA Vario Touring screen last night and got started on the Oxford Heaterz grips swap.  Looks like the toughest part of that will be deciding how I want to organize the wiring.  Bike mods in detached garage using only halogens as a heat source FTL.   Crazy

non takken, ...well actually......"tough guy"?...... no I just like to ride and between my 'stitch and the POS Harley batwing fairing and windshield I stay warm as toast. I don't blame you for not wanting to ride in icy salty shit weather though. They don't salt the roads here so it's not an issue and it wasn't icy. I rode again this morning by the way, same drill.........

It was the way I read the shrug at the end of your post.  It said to me, "what's the problem, girly man? why aren't you riding? what does the weather have to do with it? not a problem for me...."

I then fired off a quick response.  That's it.  Tried to apologize.  Thanks for the double finger, though, tough guy.  Appreciate it.  Stay warm.

Sorry I wasn't trying ti insinuate anything, the fingers were a joke and the shrug was well just a shrug......meaning nothing special, just another commute....If I lived North of Chicago as you do I doubt I would be riding either, low 30's are my limit. I actually have relatives living in Thunder Bay which is way north of Chicago I believe

Nah, we're good.  No bad intent anywhere = no worries.

I'm just cranky in Chicago... like a mental patient with no meds - no riding.  Also, trying to figure out what bike to buy (sold my FZ1) and having a hard time due to not wanting to spend more than $5k or so.  If I spend $7k or more, I can get what I want, but don't have that saved up yet.  2nd reason for being cranky.

I was VERY pissy yesterday. Bordered on
mean to everyone I encountered. I realized what the trouble was. I went to the local dealership and smudged my fingerprints all over new bikes. I have my eye on a usd FJR so I sat on that and played make believe.

I left in a much better frame of mind.

Today I called Twisted Throttle and had some questions answered on my up coming order.

I feel much better now.

To bad it would have been fun to make fun of you two in a mushy man hug.
