Replaced the rotors with the newer slotted style, replaced the header pipe with a fresh unrusted one, replaced the rear peg mounts with fresh, replaced the clutch cable cover with fresh and added old style engine guards with forward pegs.

I got a Viper racing exhaust for my ZR-7s, it should arrive any minute now.
The adult in me wanted something quiet and sensible and price-conscious, the kid in me got a 'racing only - not for road use' open exhaust instead.  Twofinger

Oh and i'm about to order a Tripy GPS. Actually it's more like an electronic roadbook with GPS support. You can't give it an adress, but you get extensive software for preparing trips with it. The directions are then displayed as symbols. The cool thing is that the battery will last 30 hours, and the fact that it is independent from any maps. It actually doesn't do routing, which means that it is perfectly suited for off-road use. The kid in me won again : the guys in the Dakar rally use this exclusively.

I absolutely love the look of that XJ!

So similar, but so different. When you posted that image I googled it and to a person, everyone loved theirs. Cruiser frame, race bike engine.

I loved that bike and regret ever selling it. It was so so clean. Sounded like a V-twin with those "slash-cut" pipes too.  Inlove Had a very nice rumble to it.

I bought it off my brother and sold it to my brother-in-law. Then I watched it sit in a driveway for years and slowly rust away.

My order from GPSCity.com arrived, allowing me to mount my Nuvi 780:

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/divvie/nuvi.jpg

And here's the waterproof power adapter, mounted on the inside of the fairing:

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/divvie/12v.jpg

The Nuvi 780 came with a 3-month trial of MSN Direct.  The service includes traffic, weather (including Doppler weather maps), gas prices, news, movie times, stock quotes, and some other goodies.  I was using the Nuvi in the car yesterday and one of those weather bulletins (due to excessive heat warnings) popped up on the screen.  Having that service to warn of impending thunderstorms might be worth the price of lifetime admission ($99.95).

The gas prices lists 12 or so nearby stations and their latest prices.  Choose one and it will map you to it, even adding it into your route.

And here is the Beadrider Ultimate I put on yesterday:

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/divvie/beadrider.jpg

And the Crampbuster:

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/divvie/cb.jpg

(Don't mind the weed fabric in the background of the photos, I'll be putting in bushes and river rock soon.)

I installed the "Powerlet" outlet for my Gerbings.

First, run a wire from the battery up between the two fuel tanks.

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c132/doog71/KTM%20Adventure/DSCN1868.jpg

The wire from the battery will connect via coax to my powerlet outlet.  This connection allows for a quick disconnect for when service needs done to the bike and the wire would be in the way.

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c132/doog71/KTM%20Adventure/DSCN1870.jpg

Drill hole in desired location of powerlet.

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c132/doog71/KTM%20Adventure/DSCN1871.jpg

Finish install of powerlet outlet.

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c132/doog71/KTM%20Adventure/DSCN1874.jpg

Test it.   Bigok

Next, I started to prepare for the install of a dash mounted GPS cradle for the Adventure.

This is what I ordered.

It mounts, via a separate bracket, to the subframe on the dash.  So, I went ahead and disassembled the front in preparation of the cradle and bracket.

Ready for install!

After a couple years of dithering around over what (if any) luxo barge tourer I might want to replace my well-worn 2001 GL1800, I traded it in for a new GL1800.  Checked around with various well known high-volume Honda dealers, and concluded the price a local shop was asking on a remaining '09 was good enough not to pass up.  I'll pick up the new bike next week.
