Replaced the rubber stems on both rear turn signal lights, then I put a quick 100 miles on it from Daly City to Pescadero to 84 and then back up the coast.

I could see and smell the smoke from the fire near Hwy 9.

Last Friday I prepped and loaded up my FZ1 for a weekend ride to Western MD.  Aired up the tires; the rear was reading 20psi  Headscratch   Rotated the wheel and didn't see any obvious punctures - the valve passed the spit test.  I inflated the tire to 42psi, rode to the local diner and had breakfast with my riding companion, then rode back home to do some things I'd forgot to do and rechecked the rear tire.   28psi.  Crazy

My friend was awaiting me at a nearby gas station, so I went into a frenzy of transferring gear from the Fizzy to my WeeStrom.  While backing the Strom around under my deck to get it pointed streetwise I bumped a pannier against a wooden support post, lost my balance, and dropped it. Bash No damage to the bike, but in the confined space between the two posts I couldn't get it righted by myself.  And my friend didn't have their cell phone on.  Sad

Finally I detached my chain hoist from one part of the deck and set it up over the bike, rigged some tow straps to the engine guards, and hauled away until the front was dangling and I could get the kickstand down.   Then I rode to the gas station to meet with my now-anxious friend and we took leisurely back roads to Western MD and had a cool (weatherwise), incident-free weekend.  Tonight I get to find out where my Fizzy tire is leaking.

Upon procuring a can of the New Miracle Chain Lube and All-Purpose Tonic (DuPont Teflon Multi-Use), I proceeded to give my bike a "kerosene shower", scrubbing 26,000 miles worth of chain grime off the lower frame, swingarm, side- and centerstands, and wherever else it had accumulated. It actually is silver down there.  Lol

This stuff seems great. I got it at my neighborhood Ace. Now the bike looks like new again, and the film of self-cleaning lube on the chain is a beautiful thing to behold. The chain is gold and the sprocket is silver. Who'da thunkit?

I think it'll be great, not too big, not too small (expandable too!)  Unzips from the base so I can take it with me - even has a backpack straps and a shoulder strap.

The Oil change is coming in a day or so.

I am loving the PR2s. They were pretty freaky acting for the first 10 miles or so but now. Inlove

I also outfitted my helmet with an official STN sticker and put a set of the sweet FJR hardbag stickers on .

Getting ready for my trip Saturday.

Washed and waxed, cleaned the chain, changed the oil.  Found out after I put in the new filter that I only had 2 1/2 quarts of oil!    Lol

Suspension is all taken care a couple weeks ago and the bike tire just got replaced last week.  I can't wait!

Changing the oil later tonight, lubing the chain, and changing rear tire. Yesterday I rode 721 miles, sadly today only 4.

Rode the VFR to the career center, then over to Dad's for lunch.

Got back home in time to see the roll of stainless for heat shielding on the RC had just arrived, so I can get back on that project.

It looks like you did one heck of a job on that seat.  I would like to know more detail on how you did it.

In the pic below, in the area of the blue hash marks I removed about an inch of the foam from under the seat, in the green area it tapers back to the stock level of foam and in the red areas it was left the original height. This allowed the foam in the area of my tailbone to compress down (which is the biggest issue with the Versys seat). I used a serrated bread knife to cut and shape the foam (I didn’t feel like running down to Lowes to get a sanding disk).  I did a similar mod to my wife’s stock SV650S seat and it made a HUGE difference. I haven’t put much time on the Versys seat since the mod but from what I can tell so far its going to be much easier to sit on this puppy for more than an hour at a time.

Did you add any aftermarket foam, or just 'soften' the OEM foam by making cuts?

Just soften the foam with cuts and removal. I figured if it compresses to much (and I can feel the pan after an hour or two) I can take it back apart and fill the void with soft memory type foam or something. I didn't have to do this on the SV but then again the wife is small so I doubt she has an issue with the lack of foam.

Ah.  I've done some DIY refoaming of mine & friend's seats, using memory foam from AliMed and Wick's Aircraft Supply.  For the relatively simple SV650 seats I've just used the sheets of 1" thick stiff (green) stuff.  For other seats that have to be built up a bit or have "wings" added I've done cross-layers.
