Maybe you missed the missing nut holding the front sprocket on. The sprocket was about 1/3 slid out when I pulled the broken cover off.  Lol

I'm not really worried about riding without the cover while I shop. It's parked until my replacement nut and locking washer arrive. I did check at the dealer this morning but they said they'd have to order it (5 day wait). I told them I'd order it myself and have it delivered to the house.

I'm leaning toward this on from a guy on ADV as long as shipping isn't insane from Australia.  Bigsmile

It's good protection as a case saver and would stop the sprocket from coming all the way off the shaft in case of a repeat of this week's issue. Of course the ability to visually inspect it should help prevent that.

I bought the Hindle pipe years ago for pennies on the dollar. Couldn't pass it up. But I've always hated the red anodizing and taken grief from riding buddies about it. I'd checked on removing the anodizing and got around to it yesterday afternoon. Went to 99 cent store and two cans of oven cleaner and $2.16 later, ta da!!!!!!!!!

Scrubbed in a new PR2 on the front of the Busa, about 190 miles.  The heavy ass side winds made me cut my ride short though.  The winds are usually from the N and NW but today they were hard from the W with just a little from the NW.  Not pleasant...

Couple weeks ago something came loose in the high-beam side of the Bandits headlight assembly. So, yesterday I pulled the assembly, found the projector lens and blocker assembly had worked loose which is exactly what some prior interweb research suggested I would find along with a fine grey dust caused by the lens rubbing on the mount..  Other than cleaning the dust from everything, the most recommended fix was to remove the blocker for much better light output. When you think about it, why the heck would you put a blocker in the high-beam side anyway!?! Right behind that was to use high-temp RTV on the lens seat and retaining ring lip so it does not move around in the future.

I was quite surprised at the amount of dust coating everything in the headlight assembly. I was surprised my lights were as good as they were given the amount of dust I found. On the flip side, I realized just how much the light output had deteriorated when I took the bike out for a night ride after the fix. WOW! i was amazed at how much light I now had from the low-beam side and the high-beam now truly lights up the night!

This mod was done a long time ago, but seeing as I had teh fairing off, I though I would post it too. For anyone else out there with a Gen 2 Bandit, here is a good place to mount a power outlet. It runs off of the carb heat wire (orange) that is not used on most bikes and runs along the frame cross-brace just above and behind the carbs.

The Stars finally aligned.  Day off, parts in hand, permission to come in and use my shop lift and all the work equipment.

New Kenda 270s installed, carb cleaned and restored to OEM settings, air filter washed, throttle and clutch cables adjusted and the entire bike cleaned within an inch of new.   Bigok Three hours very well spent and thoroughly enjoyed.

For the curious, the air/fuel screw was 3.5 turns out causing a rich condition.  Reset to 1.5 turns and the bike has oomph off idle now.

On Mikunis that means you richened the mixture by turning in. The AIR screw screws in to close the passage so less air can pass. Screwing the air screw out allows more air to pass the enlarged passage way. You have an idle jet that only passes fuel.

First tune-up tip free. Others I will send bill.

Is no one working on their bikes anymore?

Oil changes on my Z750s and Ladyninja's 650 Ninja.

I bled the front brake system and installed the rear wheel on the DR350 last night.  Rode it to work this morning and change d the oil, adjusted the chain and set air pressures in the tires.

I decided to order a Drop Tail trailer at http://4wheelonline.com/motorcycle/Motorcycle_Trailers.214767. Just like the Kendon, it folds up so storing it will be easy without taking much space in my garage. The only con I can say is the price though I know it is well built.

Installed the steering damper on the new-to-me RC51 and set sag and rebound. Realised I'll need a new tyre tomorrow, too. Hope the trackside guy has one. Smile

I did the doohickey and installed a thermobob-2 on the KLR.

The engine runs noticeably quitter with the new doohickey (balancer chain adjuster lever to the uninitiated) and the torsion spring.  The conventional (stock) spring was no longer providing any tension on the stock lever.
