Put the side fairings on, discovered a place to hide the new vacuum can, and got her all back together except for the new battery. All you religious types, pray my carbs aren't gummed up.

Sure they can hear you but the unfamiliar blast of 135db horns emanating from a bike may panic cagers
right into your path... because if you hear meep meep you think bike whereas if you hear dual car horns you
think car...

Good point but I figure if I need the horn they're already in my path. The OEM meep meep was so inadequate I could barely hear it myself at highway speed with the earplugs in. I'm counting on this being an improvement.

Ordered some lowering links, so that when I put the Hayabusa rear shock on the ass end won't be too damn high in the air.

Bought 4' of gas line in preparation to sync my carbs when UPS delivers my new vacuum gauges. I recently cleaned the carbs & changed the oil. She is now running really hot and found lean too. Also has a problem above 3k RPM, no power & bogs, chokes.
Drained and flushed radiator, put new fancy stuff in.

Had new foam put in the Ural's seat...still sucks so we're going to home remedy it.
Rode the KLR home from work in a driving thunderstorm and laughed as SUV driver kept swerving in the other lane to avoid puddles. It's a high-clearance vehicle, people!

it's never a good idea to drive full speed through standing water if you can safely avoid it.

I've found if you put your feet out as pontoons to save your arse, your pant legs fill with water.

If an cager is in your path you'd better be executing some kind of defensive action... if you wait for them to
get a clue about your car horns... it may prove to be to late...

Agreed. The horn is just one part of an all-of-the-above approach to saving my arse. I assume I'm invisible and all the cagers are impared. Here's a couple other things I've done:
I think the HID's help - not that I count on it but I've seen bambi do an about face on the shoulder.
And I just added the Olympia Stealth suit in HI-VIZ to my gear mongering wardrobe.
. . . . can you hear me . . . . NOW!!??

Slapped on grip puppies & changed light bulbs on the the Speed Four to 1 white, 1 "hyper yellow". Looks like half of a 60's Citroen comin at ya.
I know less actual light is being thrown, but way less cages are pulling out in front of me!

Good lawd. You (and your garage, i'd imagine) are incredible in ways i could only aspire to be.
And back when I first joined the forum (many, many ...weeks ago) i was ready to back you up on the aftermarket horn issue, but i was too new. But the only time I use my horn is after i've snapped the bike over evasively or i've done some heavy braking to avoid being clobbered by a moron--I only use the horn to make them look at me to see me flipping them off, which the "meep meep" accomplishes just fine
doesn't really make me feel better, but maybe it'll stick in their memory.
But yea--i'm not joking when i say that's as incredible a hunk of metal as I've ever seen. (the grammar nazis is welcome to feast on that sentence)

Yes, you're going to spin wildly out of control doing 25-35 mph on a city street.

It can be hard to tell what's under the surface of the water. It could be a softball sized rock, could be a foot deep pot hole. It seems reasonable to slow down a bit.

Put new cam inspection covers on it and a Cortech pillion bag, then I rode the shit out of it.
Daly City to Santa Cruz with Gazos Creek road to 84 and back to the beach and up the coast home. 172 miles
