Definately worth the investment.  Surging is gone and the shop uses a dyno to verify the tune.  Pretty good numbers considering the weather here in DE lately.  She showed 103hp around 9K and was over 72ftlb of torque from 3K up!

Changed out the air filter.  Why?  Because it's easier than cleaning the carbs.

Put a new Coocase on it.

The first one was great but the mechanism failed more than a couple of times to open with the remote so I called the guys at Twisted throttle yesterday am and a new one was here with a return label enclosed by 2:00 pm today.

They rock!

I rode!!! After months of tearing apart carbs, in and out of the shop, dropping needle valves, falling e-clips, I finally got help from Clint at Billet Bikes (shameless plug - those guys are awesome, if you're around Hopkins, MN I  give 'em the  Thumbsup) with hoses, and carb adjustments and...and...and....it started! And stayed running! Slapped the bodywork back on, and RODE. Grinning like an idiot around the lake. Thanks for listening. I am SO freakin' happy to have 2 wheels under me again I had to tell someone.

I took my bike to GP Suspension to finally, forever and for always FIX THE DAMNED, WORTHLESS FRONT FORKS!!! I simply tired of the combination of too much damping -which made it harsh over any small bumps- combined with the too-soft springs which allowed excessive nose dive when braking. And if I dialed up the preload, it just made it harsher over small bumps, so.....step 1 to an improved suspension is farkled forks.

It will come back next week with stiffer springs to cure the long-standing 'Sprint squat' when braking hard, a modified damper rod, new oil of a weight matched to the modified damper rod, new bushings, seals and dirt seals. They will also set the rear shock settings to best match my weight and new front fork characteristics

Put the valve covers back on after a valve adjust and chain tensioner swap on a '86 miniceptor.  I'll get it back on the road in a week or so, no hurries, other bikes to ride.

Today I got the day off work  Banana (not the easiest thing for me to do) and believe it the DMV was open. I put the 76 Yamaha Chappy in the back of the pick up and headed down to do the deed with the state. Side note: I got the bike without any paperwork just as a gift IE "if you want it take it". At the DMV I got the VIN verified, did all the paperwork paid the $$$ and was rewarded with new plates and current stickers Chili

Spent the rest of the day riding around with my son on the Chappy (he calls it "my yellow bike" with stares in his eyes and a smile on his face)

washed bike. made custom stripes for hard bags to go with fairing stripes. yeah, i know...no pics, not real. well, i first have to get pics, then figure out how to post em. i'm hoping to do that tomorrow. i also removed all side reflectors so i now i have just the stripes.  i must say, just the stripes are WAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than those pathetic red and yellow reflectors. Plus it looks sooooooo much better. once waxed and pics taken, post pics up "for sale"..to see if i get any takers before i leave for Alaska (for 4 years). if it goes....cool....  looks like a motard or DS is in my future next summer. if it don't sell, well, i'll have plenty of touring capability up in them thar "Hills."
