Back and forth to work, I get about 35-37mpg. Trip is 12 miles, minimal stop and go, but several stoplights.
Constant 65-70mph 2-up I have gotten 45mpg. Mileage drops of pretty quick above that.

Thanks JR, I figured it would be about the same as the FJR. I was hoping that 6th gear would bring better gas mileage on the open road but 45 is pretty damn good.

It really does appear to be pretty speed dependent, as well as it seems that there is a fair amount of variation bike to bike.
I usually average high 30's according to the dash. (some have noted a variance in displayed milage and actual) I do 60 miles every weekday, with the majority of that on the freeway at 75-ish mph. On weekends, I usually put on another couple hundred miles or so in the hills.

If the 6th gear gives better gas mileage then its a very small increase. When I ride my C14 with another rider on a FJR, he usually uses 10-12 percent less gas than I do. I think the difference is because the FJR has a closed loop FI system, FJRs seem to suffer a 10 percent drop in in gas mileage when they install a PC and remove the O2 sensor.

NOT!
My ST1300 gets much better. I've gotten consistanly 50+ mpg on the hwy up to 80 mph. A best of 64 mpg putting around at 65.
I keep a log and I have averaged 49.7 MPG over the 57K mi I have on it. And I ride it hard too. An absolute worst of 39 mpg 2 up at 80 going up hill over the rockies on I70.

I was once able to average 26 mpg on the back way up to Parker AZ. I won't tell you how fast I was going.
I guess what they lack in fuel economy they make up in fun.

Over-all, I average around 33 mpg. Keep in mind I did a 2,500+ mile loop around California leaving with a brand-new rear, and had to replace the the rear tire on the last day before I got back home. In a normal 80-99 mph cruising speed she's still easy on the gas. Just beware, if you open her up to the 130-150mph range she sucks gas like you can't believe. You can easily burn a full tank of gas across a desert straight in about 100 miles... DAMHIK.
p.s.
I'm not complaining, I have an '88 Izuzu Trooper 4 cly. that gets about 15-20 mpg and can barely get above 75 mph.

The 10% would be accurate in my case!

My 09 Diablo Black gets 39-40 mpg in everyday riding (according to the dash). Just did a 250 mile ride last weekend and the dash read 45.1 at the end of the day which is not bad at all.
My 04 ZZR1200 got around 42 mpg regular riding and once got 52 mpg on a 3 day ride to the Finger Lakes in NY (nursing it all the way just to see how far a tank would go
).

I get 30-35 MPG 90% of the time. I can get 40 MPG if I try real hard, (slab only) but what fun is that?

I have a little over 7200 miles on my 08. I haven't reset the overall milage readout and it's at 43.6 over the entire range. I ride some in town, but mostly open two-lane highway and run 65-75 mph. I don't baby it, but I don't do many full throttle blasts either.

2006FJR, are you thinking of switching to the Kawi? Or are you just reaffirming your love for the FJR. I mean the FJR gets well over 40 mpg even when ham fisted on 87 Octane. I love my FJR.

After I had 5000 miles my mileage went up to 44-48 at 65 MPH. At 80 Hwyit gets 43 all day long.
They are very temperature dependant. In cooler weather ( 40 deg) my mileage drops to 40-42 at 65mph.
All those figures are actual measured, not "Computer" guess.
If you look over on the C14 Form those are typical without a PCIII.

The mileage readout I have is dead on when compared with measurments.
My computer must "guess" better than yours.
