Sweeetness!

Once you break it in, can you get back and let us know how the fueling feels?  I had a test ride on one that was really surgey and I'm hoping that that is not normal.

Wikkid looking bike.
Congrats.

This one is a weee bit surgey but not bad enough to make it uncomfortable, the only time you notice it is when you are lopping along at slow speed and low RPM, any time your on the throttle it is nothing but fun. I probably will drop a tooth on the front sprocket and maybe change the throttle cam lobs, I suspect it will disappear completely then, I will keep you posted. I also read on the net that there is a brand new FI map out to address the problem, not sure if thats just internet blather or fact, the dealer I used is checking into it today. I have heard that some are pretty bad but I guess I got lucky

Cool, but the boxes look like they're mounted crooked.  Wink

Sweet bike.  So how does the motor compare to the 1050 triple that you had previously?

i saw a new 09 in white this weekend.  Looked really good apart fromt the weird 'cracked plastic' graphics.  Originally I thought they were either meant to be spider webs or snowflakes but IMO they just look like cracked plastic.  Maybe that's the point?  Maybe it can be peeled off?
Black, orange or white.  All sweet.

Sweet bike.  So how does the motor compare to the 1050 triple that you had previously?

Well there is 6000km on the KTM now and I love it, no issues, we rode 500km two up on Sunday and we were both very happy but to be honest I still think the 1050 triple is the best motor on the market today for its application, I love the feel of it better than any I4  twin or single. That said I think the KTM would be a bit HoHum with the 1050 the 990 has a charachter all it's own  Bigsmile .  The 990 has been in dirt and gravel and I was amazed at how well the bike handles and found my speed at levels that should be restricted to people much younger Rolleyes On the highway it certainly is not as quick as the sprint but it's not meant to be, I have not as yet found my self looking for more power. After 500 and 600 km days I have no aches or pains to speak of, where as the sprint my knee and hip (geez I sound like a geezer) would bother me after a full day. The KTM stock seat I am not to happy about it is to soft I think an after market one may be in the plans for next season.
Overall the bike is great, the brits could take a lesson on suspension from the Austrians for sure. Now that it's sort of dirty and used I am looking for a little more of an off road challenge, so far off pavement it fells very capable but I suspect the first time I don't make a hill or or get stuck it is going to show it's big pig side  Lol
Just my $.02
