CSTN 2007 - Central ST.N Meet - Info Thread
«
on:
November 30, 2006, 07:43:33 PM »
To be held in lovely (and centrally located) Eureka Springs, AR, CSTN 07 transcends regions, bringing together STNers from all over the central US and beyond.
CSTN 2006 had 10 attendees from 8 different states. We're looking to be much bigger in 2007.
When:
September 21-23, 2007
(Friday night through Sunday morning)
Where:
Eureka Springs, AR
(NW corner of the state, with lots of great riding in AR and MO)
UPDATED 1-7-07!
Lodging:
We have a block of 30 rooms reserved at the
Traveler's Inn
(479-253-8386). Reasonable prices (under $50/night for a single person) and clean rooms. The social aspect in staying here can't be beat. Camping is available in-town too. When you reserve a room,
say you're with Sport-Touring.Net
.
UPDATED 7-11-07!
Everyone in the STN group block will get a discounted rate of $48/night as arranged back in January. If you were quoted a higher rate, it was incorrect.
If you are on the phone making reservations and get quoted a higher rate, ask to speak to Gary, the manager.
Note: the $48 rate goes for singles. I'm not sure what the rate is for doubles (if there are any).
PM me ASAP if there are any problems with the reservation. Let us know in the thread when you reserve a room. I can add to the block if needed, and the unreserved rooms will be released a week before the event.
Schedule:
Friday PM: Early Arrivals Dinner- trickle in from 6pm til the group leaves -
Sparky's Roadhouse Cafe
Friday PM: Hang out on the veranda at the hotel
Saturday AM: Breakfast at Pancakes (across the street) OR free continental breakfast in the lobby
Saturday Ride (route ideas will be posted as the event gets closer, or look up a cache of last years thread on google)
Saturday PM: Dinner - rider's choice. There are several places within walking distance.
Sunday AM: Goodbyes to the early departures and breakfast for those who have extra time.
Note:
Sparky's is walking distance from the Traveler's Inn (turn left on 62 from the Inn parking lot). It's not hugely far, supposedly, but not hugely close. Think 5 or 6 football fields according to the person I talked to. They will seat us in tables on the patio all close to each other.

Hah! Wouldn't want to dilute that fun level with seeing your pretty face too often.

Awww, shucks!
Seriously though, consider coming over before then. There are a
ton
of roads we missed due to the crappy weather. Even on the route we took I screwed-up by not having us cut-off 112 at H and riding 86 up to 76.

Gee, I guess I should plan on attending this time!
Eureka springs is 260 miles away from me. Barely a full tank of gas and 4 hours of ride time. Yeah, I better make it.
So, count me in!
Cricket, as it gets closer, hit me up. If schedules work out, maybe we can ride out together.

Sounds like a good time to be up in Eureka Springs. I may even try to make a few rides up that way before hand just to scout it out.
I don't think I've been up there since the ST.N national was held there in '04. Ahhh, 2004...that was the year of riding for me. I made it to the ST.N national meet and to the WFO out in Moscow, ID. 'course, I also had 6 weeks of vacation that year, too.
Dang, I miss all my vacation time...
Anywho, add me to the list of definite maybes.
I think I can swing a day off to ride up there on that Friday. And, it's close to my birthday so I'll just call it my birthday trip.

Make a good impression at the Traveler's Inn, y'all. After all, that's where the 2008 national meet will probably be held. Wouldn't want to have to find a different place to go.

Becca....I'll chime in as "Maybe"...since it is too far down the road for me to confirmed. As the days get near...others from KS will give their input. At the beginning of the meet that monsoon that came thru Eureka....I think I'm ready.
