Anyone interested in a Region 5 BBG to the National? I would be leaving the Atlanta area and it's about 1550 miles. Anyone?

Sounds awesome but I just got the new used motor out of the parts bike, and it is still on the garage floor.   Embarassment

And I live in NoVA - not GA.

There has to be someone in region 5 with a real set- go for it!

You found a parts bike to fix the Triumph, most excellent! You wouldn't happen to have a spare 10 hole fuel pump plate would ya?

I was looking to see who the crazies doing the BBG were.  Razz  I'm surprised it's only 1500 from Atlanta, I though it would be farther.

BTW, it's spelled cajones

I believe so - I assume it is attached to the gas tank from the blue 01 I got for $1000.

Tomorrow I will try to hoist the new motor in (it came from a crashed 04) and see what happens.

Anyone interested in a 01 Sprint st frame with CLEAN title?  I'm not sure what I am going to do with it. Headscratch

Here is a handy Triumph engine swap tip. If you plan on doing it yourself I found an easier way than hoisting the motor.
I remove all the body work and lay the bike on its side (with a blanket to protect the frame in place). Then you slide the engine in place, insert a few motor mount bolts and then pick the entire bike with installed engine up. That way you don't fight gravity while hoisting and alligning the engine.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy...

Done them, yes. Done a BBG officially, no. I did manage to do 1460 miles in the Cape Fear rally this year but that was 27.5 hours (although there was a 3 hour rest stop). The problem here for me is not the BBG to get there, but I have a new job and it will force me to have to do a BBG back as well. Not enough available time off work. SO...IF I get to do this ride now, it will have to be back to back BBGs. Thats a lot of friggin ridin

I see you're riding an FJR 1300. Couldn't have a better mount for this undertaking. I'm on my second FJR and know first hand it won't let you down. I bagged a BBG back in 2005 and it was quite a test of endurance. BBG 3000!!! Sounds to me like you've got what it takes to pull it off. Good luck Amigo!

Just saw this thread.  I was seriously considering a BBG to the National, but the amount of vacation time cut into those plans.  I'd rather spend the days at the Indy GP so that's going to be the big m/c trip of this year.

Good luck!

Yamatech - got the motor in and the bike actually started - I am quite stoked, but it will not rev over 4K and is really sputtering bad.  I'm hoping I did not get a coil hooked up tight enough or some other wire connector is loose.  Any thoughts?  It is running but not at all well.  Almost like it is in some motor safe mode or something?  I will probably have to get a real mechanic to hook up the reader and find the fault it is throwing (engine light is lit up).  I hope the ECU I have is compatible and I do not need to replace that as well.  That would suck.

As for the gas tank plate - the extra one I have has 14 bolts.  I assume you are looking for the one with the fuel pump and filter?   I'm not sure about a 10 bolt plate. Headscratch

First make sure it is running on all 3 cylinders. easy way to do it is to run the engine for a minute and spray water or windex (any liquid works) in the header pipes. You will know it if ine cyl is not running that way, anso it will help the troubleshooting process by knowing which one isn't. Being a motor swap I would guess something is unplugged or plugger into the wrong spot.

You can check codes yourself by using a cheap obd2 reader available at all the auto parts stores. Plugin should be under the seat. You can find then as cheap as $15.00.

I will keep searching for the 10 hole pump assy. Thanks for checking though.

Thanks for the tips - Autozone will be my lunch stop tomorrow!

RE: your 2X-BBG - sounds doable if the weather cooperates.  I have done a few rallies and have multiple 1K days - but rain would make day 2 much so much tougher...
