There is a motel/cabins right there at Seneca Rocks. Look for Yokum's Motel on the web.

Checking it out tonight.  Just need a place to put my head down for a few hours.  Stay tuned, I REALLY want in on this ride.

Sorry, I misunderstood.  I thought you were looking for a hotel that you could stay the night on Friday and continue your way Saturday morning to hook up w/ us for the ride.

Garry's correct, there are rooms at the place we'll most likely have breakfast which is about a mile from the campsite.

I have been playing around w/ the route keeping a 100 mile range between fill ups in mind.  I have reversed the route so that we will be heading to Judy Gap (via Seneca Caverns) for our first stop to top off the tanks.

I'm getting some e-mails from folks who may hook up with us in the morning.  Given the fact the 4-U is closed, where would you like to have breakfast?  I'm thinking we get some granola bars and what not at the gas station in Judy Gap and follow that with a nice sized lunch in Davis or Canaan.

What do you think?

There is at least one family restaurant that serves breakfast between Seneca and Judy Gap (near Judy Gap). It's on the right heading east. Seems pretty busy.

BTW, the DRZ is in questionable shape today. The FCR39 is installed, the bike started and ran fine (short ride thru neighborhood). But I heard a weird noise from the engine. I had noticed it a few times on previous rides. It's a recent change, so something is different. I'm not sure if it's a resonant buzz or a brief internal engine noise. Will try to do some research today. What has me concerned is that the DRZ is known to have six stator bolts back out, shear off and pretty much destroy that bit of the engine. Several hundred dollars to repair if it goes. The fix is to use red Loctite on the bolts. The problem (for me) is whether I can get the gasket needed to bolt it back together. If I had to guess, the noise (if from the engine) is from the stator area. Maybe I have one bolt just starting to work loose. Dunno, but concerned...

That will work.  Bigok  If the concensus is to have a sitdown breakfast, we can stop there.  Thanks.

Can one of you guys post up or PM me and exact meeting spot and time for Saturday?  This would help me plan my way down there Friday and hooking up on Saturday.

My vote would be we leave the campground at 9AM and ride to Judy Gap, WV.  The route there (not 100% Rt. 33) should take up 25 minutes to get to Judy Gap.  We'll top off the gas tanks and get breakfast at Judy Gap.  I know where we'll get gas, but where will we eat breakfast?  Shall we get a quick bite at the gas station and save up for a nice lunch?

Do you guys think I'll be OK on tires?  I'll be reading mostly country roads down (~100 to 120 miles) on Friday.  Then I'll ride our 180 mile day on Saturday.  And finally, I'll take a scenic mostly dirt road ride back home on Sunday (~160 miles).

460 miles total.

Doug, could you please email me the MapSource (or S&T) file for Saturdays ride? I need to plan a way there (somewhat direct) and a way home (somewhat wandering). I don't want to re-cover roads we are going to hit on Saturday.

BTW, took the DRZ out for an hour this afternoon and it ran fine with no weird noises...

Garry, a MapSource file has been sent.  On the way back, you're more than welcome to tag along w/ me as I hit Leadmine Mt. Road and Lantz Ridge Road on my way back.  Leadmine Mt. Road was the one everyone raved about between Rt. 219 and 72.  And Lantz Ridge is a great road we cut out last year because of time.  Lantz Ridge goes from US 50 (at the bottom of Cheat Mt.) to Rowlesburg.

DRZ seems to be running fine. Took the skid plate off to give the engine a good cleaning and haven't heard the weird sound since. Skid plate buzzing/resonating against the frame maybe??? I hope the explanation is that simple. I hope to put a couple hundred miles on it over the next couple nights after work to make sure all is well...

I hope you can make it.

I'll post an updated summary on the first post, but Garry and I were planning on eating dinner at the Front Porch located at the intersection of Rt. 33 and Rt. 28 just north of the campground.

We plan on being there at 7PM Friday evening after unloading the bikes at the campground.  Keep some luggage on your bike to carry home a few beers after dinner.
