Regarding breakfast, I rode by the 4-U last weekend and it looked closed.  Is there any place around Seneca to get breakfast?  Garry, you used to rock climb down there.  What say you?

The 4-U was always the "go to" spot for breakfast. There is also Yokum's restaurant on the left a little farther from Seneca. They used to be known for "service with a snarl". Depending on the route, there are some other family diner places to the east on 33 (before Judy Gap). There is always the chance that the Front Porch, or Yokums general store do something for breakfast these days. Don't know, but I can ask a friend...

Notes on the route above...

1)  The campground is located approximately near Point A

2)  Smith Mt. Road is a gated road with No Trespassing signs.  However, I have it under good authority that the gates are unlocked because it's a fire access road.  The "No Trespassing" is basically for properly on both sides of the road, but not the road itself.  If anyone thinks they'll have a problem crossing gated areas, please post up.  Also, there are free roaming cattle on this road between the gates.  I believe as long as we are respectful to the area, we'll be OK.

3)  Lunch will be had in either Davis or Canaan depending our how we're doing on time.  

4)  The route seems a little longer than it really is because Google Maps won't allow access to a road I KNOW we can ride on (i.e. Middle Mountain).

The total trip, according to my Mapsource file, is 175 miles.  The gnarliest roads we'll be on are Smith Mt. Road and PR 13 around Blackwater Falls.  Most all other roads are either nice packed gravel or tar and chip.  This is a big bike friendly route, but smaller bikes will have more fun.

Question, can we trailer down to the camp area?  Not sure if I am going to ride or trailer down, coming from NY, it is a long ride on a 300cc dual sport that, at this moment doesn't have bags.  I was thinking of grabbing some soft side bags or grafting my top case from the Versys onto the KLX rack.  But still, the ride down and home could be brutal.

Done and done, great deal, thanks!  Right now the KLX is in dual sport mode, if I ride down I'll leave it as a dual sport, if I truck it down I will go off road mode

Question, can we trailer down to the camp area?

The parking lot for the walk-in tent sites just has regular sized parking spaces. And they fill up too as most of the climbers use the walk-in sites. I wouldn't bet on having a spare parking space to put the trailer in.

Maybe you could trailer it close to Seneca and leave it an STN members house, then ride the last hour or two to Seneca? Depending on your route, SWriverstone might be along the way (Harpers Ferry?).

Cant wait I am in Georgia right now. I brought the bike and got some ride time in yesterday we did about 125 miles off roading. Power lines what a blast but D#$@ i am sore.

Picked up a one man hiking tent today.  Perfect size for strapping to the bike, just waiting on my Wolfman side bags and rear seat duffle to arrive.  Pretty stoked about this ride!

Back home today going to clean the bike tommorrow. Doug how much road riding is there going to be I am geared for off road and may need to regear the bike. Cranking 8500rpms at 65mph 9800rpms at 90mph

Tom, the route is mostly offroad. And, the paved areas are short stints with speed limits mostly under 50. Knowing you, you'll hit those speeds off road.

I'm in NYC for the weekend w/ the wife for fun.  There are several ds and motard bikes in the city.

I can't wait for this weekend in august.

plate or no plate?  headlight?  how 'populated' is the route (can i get away with a non street legal bike??) any highway or mostly like last years route???

I would atleast have a plate. We are on some secondary roads. Better safe than sorry. I just got back from riding in some Georgia mud. Ran some killer powerlines the other rider was on a KTM 625 what a bike.
