Doug I got my test results back finally, L4 and L5 are bulged, 6 bone spurs on my spine. Early stages on degerantive arthritis also. I sleep in a recliner start out the morning with pain killers. I sat screw it I ride everyday. It wont be the same if you dont go.

P/T is working well.  I would like to say I'll be back to 100% by the first week of August.  But, I'm being cautious.

Surgery is not an option for me yet the vertebre have to burst before they will touch them. 3 tramadol and 1 800ml ibuprofen just to get started. I camped out with my 9 yr old and could not move the next day. Riding is not an issue its having to sit or lay down as long as I am on the move its fine.

Wow.I am one lucky SOB.40 years of offroad,MX,road,drag,landspeed and short track racing.And I broke my back in 4 places horseback riding.WTF?Maybe I should just retire to the La-z-boy before things do turn ugly.I feel for you guys as arthritis is beginning it's corrosion of my joints.No pain killers until i literally can't move without them.I want to save that option for when it really gets bad.You only have so much time before the cure is worse than the disease.

OK, I'm in.

I just left a message for Canaan's Campground seeking a site or two starting Friday July 31 and checking out on Sunday August 2.  

Also, I just plotted a wicked good route on the GPS covering the following areas counterclockwise from Canaan...

Jenninston, Middle Mt., Spruce Knob, gas in Judy Gap, Lower Timber Ridge Rd. to Seneca Rocks for lunch, Smith Mt. Road to Dolly Sods, Mt. Storm, PR 13 around Blackwater Canyon, and back to the campground.  In total, it would make for a 173 mile day mostly on dirt roads!

I missed this last year, but am 60% sure I can make it this year.  Question, right now I have Kenda 270's on the bike, they are a 70/30 street dirt tire.  My thought would be to ride down with camping gear, will these tires deal with the off road portions of the ride?  

Anyone have room at a camp site to share?  (I'll have my own tent)

Smokes are great until you drop them and then sit there kicking the snot out of them....in this day and age of 4 strokes with the magic button I see no reason for a smoker dual sport.  IMHO of course.  A budyd of mine has a CRF450 which is street legal and loves it, tons of power, amazingly light.

I did it last year with IRC GP-1s on the bike (almost identical to K270s) and it was more than fine. I have a new K270 to spoon on the rear this week (or next) to go with the half-used front GP-1 from last year. We're talking dirt roads and jeep trail type stuff, not gnarly single track.

Great.  I really didn't want to put on my spare rims with the 760's and trailer down.  Make it 75% I am in at this moment.  Gonna wait a bit to see if someone wants to share a camp site and if not, I'll book my own.

Im in. I did it last year on a set of stock tires on the KLR we even found some snow, I kind of lost everyone for a while though. Doug let swriverstone know about the ride I PMed him the otherday to let him know but I did not have the dates yet

My YZ never takes more than 3 kicks to start regardless.However the CRF isn't an X (no button) and requires the touch to kick especially when hot.I'm a purist a dirtbike should be kicked.If you can't kick it walk.

Like I said "IMHO", I've seen more than my fair share of guys kicking the hell out of 2 strokes to get them restarted.

Bad news, CVR camping is full that weekend.  I really like Seneca Shadows.  They have group lots at $60.00 per night.  And larger RV lots at $40 / night.  the RV lots can accomodate 6 tents.

OK, Seneca Shadows's group tent sites are taken that weekend.  But they have tent lots called "Walk to lots."  I have lot 41 reserved and will be sharing it with Garry.  These lots are $20.00 / night and there is a $9.00 booking fee.  

There are lots beside #41 which you can go on-line and reserve.

So is friday just a set up day? or are you riding on friday?
if friday is just a set up camp day & ride on Sat. count me in at 75% (have to get tires)
if you are riding on friday I am out (no more vacation left)

There is no planned group ride on Friday, so Friday is pretty much a day to arrive at camp and set up.  Some people may take the day off and make the trip down a day-long ride.  While others may ride to the camp after work.

We'll have an early start on Saturday so it would be best to be at camp Friday evening.  We'll most like get moving from the camp at 8AM, go grab some breakfast, then hit the road.  

I hope you can make it!  

Regarding breakfast, I rode by the 4-U last weekend and it looked closed.  Is there any place around Seneca to get breakfast?  Garry, you used to rock climb down there.  What say you?
