The weather here in Northern New Mexico has definitely been wetter than normal for the last two weeks, so hopefully it blows over by mid June because I still want to camp.

How about the Pilot Power 2ct's? If your riding from San Antonio you will be about half way through a set of Pilot Powers by the time you get to Gunnison. You will still have plenty of tread on the edges for the twisties, but the centers will be limping you back home.

All this talk of the R word has me thinking I should get a closed trailer. I was planning on bringing the bike on an open trailer, that way I cold show it off to all the folks at the coffee shops and rest areas

Well I could always put a cover on it, but then again think of all the work polishing the chrome after such a long trailer ride.

Bah, it'll all be gone next week Smile
Sadly though, I don't think that we will get to CO.  I think that we will end up heading north at around the same time as the meet, hooking up with Basket and his SO near Custer.
Have fun all.  Perhaps we will see some of you en route.  Andrew, I will be looking for you and your trailer!!

40% chance of  Mad2 rain means 60% chance of sunshine
The rain grooves don't go all the way to the edge of that tire, but most likely you won't be on the edge of your tire if it is raining

From Mrs. Leanintree (yes, there is a Mrs. Leanintree... all you single wimmens can now kill yourselves in sorrow):

Quote from: Mrs. Leanintree

"The weather in the summer in the Colorado mtns is glorious. Typically the days start out sunny and hot (remember at 10,000ft the sun is much more intense than at sea level, quick sunburns) and the clouds will build and have an afternoon rain shower which cools everything off and makes everything smell like fresh pine (no, not Pine-sol pine scent-THE REAL PINE scent). Then the evenings are wonderful for porch sitting and beer drinking. Yes, be prepared for rain BUT don't let it ruin your trip. That is all."

Wow. I would have figured with her sailors mouth, that would have been much more exciting.

But it is true. there is NO forecasting the weather in the mountains this far out, and it pretty much always baselines to sunny mornings, cloudy afternoons, with scattered showers. The mountains tend to break up weather systems, and it changes at the drop of a hat. But if you don't like it, wait 5 minutes. It'll change again. Check again in 10 days. The extended forecasts are fairly worthless here, 3 weeks out and the guess isn't even educated anymore.

Can't make to CO, but I love my Mich PR2Cs. Heading in to eastern KY this weekend, with 4000 miles on my rear, with no flat spot and plenty of side grip. (There is less than 1/4" of strip on them.)

Weather forecasts in this area of CO mean absolutely nothing more than 3 days out. And very little more than 24 hours out.

For example, the forecast on Monday was rain everyday.

It rained Monday and part of Tuesday and has not rained since.

I get a kick out of the summer forecasts. Each day says 10% chance of rain. What it means is that, each day, there will be the ONE CLOUD, about 2 miles wide, that WILL drop rain. If you're under that one cloud - you'll get wet. Step aside from it and you'll have 100% chance of dry weather. At least that's my experience in Fort Collins.

We had a 400 mile day trip planned for Saturday, from Lexington in to eastern Kentucky coal fields. Several dropped out Friday when the forecast went from 0% to 30%. Saturday morning the hourly forecast said 70% chance of thundershowers for 10am kickstands up. Needless to say, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and didn't see a drop all day. (It did finally rain about 4am Sunday.)

Greench, you can paste the weather graph image location in BBS and it updates on every refresh.

That is usually the case but they got it right since then. Its rained in the Castle Rock - Denver area for the last 5 days at least. Also if its dry, it will rain but not to the ground.

Dunno if it is of any bearing, but Mrs Scoop and I have been in northern Wyoming, down through to Salt Lake City yesterday and today, and the weather has sucked.  We have had 40 degrees, snow, rain, fog, 40+ mph winds.  At least it is warm in SLC, but thunderstorms.  There is something nasty brewing and it seems to be creeping south into Colorado.  Hopefully it passes by next week.

Yea, it's SCOOP's fault !!

Gotta say, I retract my above post. Today was a "midwest day" - full sky clouds, cool, drizzle - ALL FRIGG'N DAY. Longtimers have said this spring has been miserable. Let's hope Scoop rubs the JuJu ball just right to make the sun shine.

Denver news is running a story about rising creek water levels - sheesh...  1.22" here in FC today.

Well,I can report great weather here in SLC still.  A few dodge-able isolated storms, but nice and warm.  Whipped out to Wendover today to see the Salt Flats and are heading south tomorrow.  Weather for Utah is good anyway.

OK Scoop did you get out on the salt???

If staying in Wendover saty on the Utah side of town, not as much to do but about 1/3 the cost of a room compared to the NV side

We did get out on the salt, it was very cool.  The actual staging area was under about an inch of water, but the timing mile was not.  There were a bunch of guys from CA, all on Triumph Bonnevilles at the staging area too, kinda cool.  We didn't stay in Wendover, but went out and back to SLC.  We are in Bryce Canyon now.
