Hard Luggage Mounts for the YZF600r
«

I receive a couple of emails or forum private messages every year asking about the custom hard luggage (Givi) mounts that I had on my YZF600r (owned from May 2003 to November 2005).
When I sold the YZF600r in November 2005, I removed the luggage mounts and tried to document how they went together, promising that I'd eventually post the pictures on my website.
A year later, here they are (with comments beside each photo):

I know the brackets were a hack job, but they held up nicely for almost 2 years and around 30,000 miles.

Ah ha! The Bunny speakith...th.
That is a very nice adaption of Wing Racks. And you are right, once you go bags you never go back!
Being a guy I had to do mine the hard way, a complete fabrication:
But starting with a Givi bracket would definately be easier.
Cool Beemer BTW.

Yeah - I definitely looked at your implementation when I was agonizing over how to do it. I probably would have eventually followed your lead by making some mounting plates out of flat stock if I hadn't come across such an awesome deal on the wingracks. The wingracks just streamlined the whole install.
It's funny, and definitely a case of the good things that happen when you get to know the guys at your local accessories store. There were some weekends when I'd be in there 3 or 4 times buying stuff, or browsing. They got to know me well enough that when I asked them to pull one of the E21s down so I could look at how it mounted, the shop Givi-guru offered me the mismatched wingracks that they had rattling around in back (two different generations of wingrack) at a steal!

Yep, and being a girl didn't hurt either.
I think on my next iteration, I am going to bring the boxes up and further back so they can be tighter in, and I think I am going to use tube steel. Kind of like Givi's older racks in the shape of a wing rack. Or maybe I 'ough to just snag a couple of used wings off ebay and be done with it. LOL!
