Hey Ice you beat me to the punch!
I had a great time meeting you and the others. As this was my first National meet I was happy with the rides and location.
I will post picture (or a link) this weekend!
Thanks all

I'm one-third of the way home. I already miss those canyon roads.

had a nice ride down black canyon something then on down 141
ran across a few other STNers, caught a little weather
stayed in Moab last night. went out on to Dead Horse and about 20 miles of White Rim Trail . Decided to turn around due to being all alone and not registering to ride the trail that and no extra fuel or camping gear. Chili looked like he was having fun though and S now has a red dust look going on
Anywho back n Moab having lunch at the internet/cafe/bakery.
Headed down to Mexican Hat then west word
Will update with pics later as the camera battery died (being charged by the hawti at the bakery)

In a motel just west of Zion Natl Park, with another week to get the rest of the way home. Jim's road suggestions were made of 100% awesome: 141, 12, Moki Dugway...mad props man, I owe you a beer or two at WCRM .5 or whatever.
Excellent to meet all you folks and safe journeys to those still on the road. Pics when I get home.

Barb and I came up through Estes Park and are holed up at Ft Morgan for the night. Barb says thanks for the Fat Tires. We are definitely sad to be out of the mountains and wished we had more time. It was nice meeting everyone and will plan for it again soon.

Merrily and I are in Cedar City UT. We made it through Arches yesterday (saw Mcgyver there) and made it to Green River last night (thursday) and we went through Bryce Canyon NP today. We just finished dinner and enjoyed some fine 3.2% Porter
We also did 12, 141, 550 and some other roads too. Today was nice and warm and the tar snakes were slippery. Utah, love your vistas, but please, fix the roads properly! No more tar snakes, chip seal and lousy skim coated asphalt over sand

I'm home, it only took 2 days instead of 3. No speeding (and no tickets). Going from 36 degrees at the top of some Colorado passes Thursday morning to 99 degrees later that same day in Kansas kinda sucked.

Hell, yes! Just south of Montrose, I wound up waiting for half an hour for a chipseal crew. When we finally got to go, it was dead fresh. I mean, they had JUST poured the gravel. My ass was chewing on the seat something fierce.
Man, 550's a great road, but the endless construction zones and buckets of chipseal have got to go.

Muddawg and I are in Lewiston, one day from home. Just finished Lolo pass after starting with 100 miles of rain from Dillon MT. Weather is mid 70s and broken clouds.
The ride from Gunnison to Rock Springs WY was awesome. 92 out of Gunnison then a 6000 ft climb and descent over Grand Mesa. The ride from Grand Junction to Rangely on 139 was a suprise, heavy cross winds then a really neat pass then boring to Rangely. 191 from Vernal through the Flaming Gorge was awesome, highly recommended
Rock Springs to Dillon was pretty booring except for 191 between Pinedale and Jackson, and Teton Pass. otherwise it was a "get there" day.
No sign of LOLOUNDERTOW between Missoula and Lewiston

Just wait till I edit through 360 minutes of footage for envy(age)??? I made it home tonight around 7 pm. Grand total mileage = 3854
I love my Dunlop Roadsmarts. Twenty hours of high speed flatlands and not even flatspotted! Stuck like glue all week long in the hills.

I made is back about an hour ago.. Greench440 should be home soon. My first National and it was pretty fun. Lots of cool roads, and cool people. Now I need to start checking out the pics. I am thinking my total miles were around 3300 +/-. For some reason My friggin 2610 went on the fritz in the middle of the wide open Wyoming desert just North of Rock Springs. Apparently my track log was full as it only caught the first day..

Got in around 2:30. Relaxing with a scotch after a soak in the spa. Finished with 3512 miles showing on the clock and rode through a rain and hail storm for the last mile.
Great meeting other folks, riding some fantastic roads and generally forgetting about civilization for 10 days.

Got in around 2:30. Relaxing with a scotch after a soak in the spa. Finished with 3512 miles showing on the clock and rode through a rain and hail storm for the last mile.
Great meeting other folks, riding some fantastic roads and generally forgetting about civilization for 10 days.
Thanks for handing the Pils glass (which Carolyn made?) to MacGyver which got to me today. Now I feel like... somebody.

Wish I could take some credit, but I think Andrew brought the glass out to CO. You don't have to wait until the 2013 National, the 2011 should be in Custer.

We are in Santa Clara... just down the street from you.
I have to get some new tires tomorrow, because the XX has totally fragged a set of Pilot Powers in about 3K miles.
We are leaving on Tuesday going up the coast, with a planned arrival back at the shack on Thursday.
We managed to get in five national parks, with Yosemite done today.

Well, I got back Saturday afternoon. From reading the other reports, there must have been a SALE on chip & seal last week. I ran into about 5 miles of fresh chip & seal on one of the best parts of US 64 headed West out of Taos, NM Thursday.
My trip home was pretty uneventful, mostly just a grind after I got East of I-25.
I had a good time, met some great people that I hope to ride with again soon.
Oscar.45, I'll be back in the Gunnison area 1st week of August.
Ed, glad you didn’t get skinned up, and hope the insurance pays for new leathers and helmet as well as bike parts. It was good riding with ya again.
Ya’ll have a good ‘un now, and let me know if your in my neighborhood.
John

just got home. not with out another mishap.
sunday about half way through arches N.P. the bike completely turns off. nothing every thing dead.
checked battery connection, main fuse all good. then checked ignition switch.
now i have a tendency to pack on the heavy side and bring things i think i may need. well i hapend to have my old ignition switch with me. so on the side of the road i pulled the tank off to get to the connectors and switch the switch.
WALLA the bike started. put it back together and was back on the road. only down for around an hour. finished seeing the park.
unfortunately i didn't thing to get any pic's till i got the bike back together.

No that will not buff out broom stick size stick. In the most remote part of the Ozarks. LONG day but I made it home. 1 low side. 1 performance award. 1 flat tire. 1st national. I think I have been hazed enough already! 4580 miles. I was going for just over 5K but the flat changed my plans.

Just made it to my Dad's house in Hillsboro, OR after some more tasty roads out of Colorado, some off-roading with Spectre, and then some of the shittiest weather I've seen coming through Western Utah. This is the first time I've been able to connect to the interwebs. I'm at 3500 miles now. Resting, changing oil, cleaning air filter, sorting (and hopefully posting) some pics, and then pointing the C-10 towards Arizona on Friday.
Had a good time eating, meeting, drinking and BSing in Gunnison. Looking through my pics, I have a lot of picks of the bikes but very few of people. The sight of both parking areas of the Gunny Inn with wall-to-wall motorcyles was awesome.
Every day since I left home, I've been able to come around at least one corner to see something spectacular. What a beautiful country!!

Julie & I got back to North Carolina Monday PM. We hit the Ozarks on the way back as heavy rains chased us off the twisties on the way out to CO. It was a 4400 mile round trip for us. The heat (95 degrees) just about killed us in TN on Sunday but a few secret backroad routes (given to us by a group of local TN HD riders) sent us to cooler temps and fantastic roads. That got us to a motel after dark but was worth the time.
Glad to meet everyone in Gunnison and we had a great time.

Are we the only ones still on the road? We are currently in Fortuna CA after a day lay over in Santa Clara CA. I had to get new tires after fragging the Pilot Powers on the XX. We came up Hwy 280 to Hwy 1 and followed all the way up the coast with a side bar at Mt. Tamalpais. Awesome roads (350 miles of twisties) and great weather. I just finished a couple of ales off at the Eel River brewery. Tomorrow up the Oregon coast and on to McMinnville OR
http://www.sprucegoose.org
for the night.
Lots of pictures, which will be posted when I return.
So far this trip has been awesome. We've had some great adventures, all types of weather and meet some really interesting people. Even managed dinner with Dantes Dame and Bombauer.
I miss my kitties though.....

Nope you are not the only ones still on the road. Right now we are holed up in Big Bear for the night. we have 4 more nights on the road
Dont miss the best section on road on the west coast. Hwy one from Fort Bragg to Legget. 22 miles 366 turns and no traffic. Have fun on your way back

I've done that road. It is great! We bypassed it this trip and follwed the coast all the way up to Fortuna for the night.
We are in Mcminnville OR tonight. Hotels are like gold here. No beer, nothing within walking distance. The Evergreen museum better be cool. Oh BTW, Oregon so far sux. Hwy 101 coming up the coast was a construction nightmare. So bad we bailed on Hwy 38 and came up I-5. It took us one hour to go 28 miles, and we had to stop about 4 times for construction. We filtered to the front at each stop, and at one stop while doing this some asshat logging truck driver blew his horn and called me an asshole.
We will be back home tomorrow. I can't wait to get out of western Oregon.

Aaaand just rolled in home, a couple of days earlier than expected, to a very energetic greeting from the puppies (OHMYGOD OHMYGOD OHMYGOD BEST DAY EVER). GPS says 5326.6 miles in total and the rear tire certainly shows it. Now for a delicious Alaskan ale. Tomorrow I'll start hacking through the 3 gigs of pictures to upload and editing up the journal for public consumption.
Bad ass trip all in all, this was one for the history books. Super cool to meet all you kids and ride such awesome roads. Is it time for the next one yet?

Damnit, and I was hoping to make it to this one. Woulda been cool to meet you.
Next one... supposed to be in the Appalachians. Should be able to top that 5326.6, no problem.

Bluepoof made it. She made 5-6 of them a year ago to hand out at the WCRM. I have one in my cupboard
They were hand-etched by her and Peter, so I'm afraid that "ordering one" might be a little difficult
Cool, I hadn't realized that I had a limited Edition.
Oh ya, Still not home. Hopefully sunday. Shagged a tire and a chain, but haven't burnt a drop of oil.
And I don't want to jinx myself by talking about rain.

Back last night, 8500 km. Got to visit my son over the weekend, and took 3 easy days to get the last 500 miles in.
Closest we got to a cop was the "Chili" incident.

So it's a really long vacation with an indeterminate end point. You still got a cool bike and a great wife, and everything's going to work out eventually.

And no pay. Otherwise it would be just fine.

Had dinner at mom's house in Sedona last night, home in Glendale 7:00 this morning. Now back at work. 17 days, 5250 miles, great times. I'm ready to ditch this and go again!
